"He's a great recruiter. The end." -Spurrier

So, the usual suspects I take it. Oh well.

Spurrier Unlocked

I watched a couple of interviews Coach gave over the past few days and I think he is trying to make a point that is being misconstrued. He readily acknowledges Saban as a great coach as he also gives credit to Malzahn and others (himself included). He specifically said there is a general misconception that Alabama controls the conference which is false. He addressed that over the last 8 years there have been 4 champions of the conference with 2 apiece (AU, LSU, UF and UA). I think he is simply trying to bring some balance. For instance since the retirement of The Bear, in 31 seasons UF, LSU, AU and UT have been champion of the conference more times, or a much as, UA. I think his main point is tremendous competitiveness of the conference and nothing more.

Also, it seems to me one of the main functions of a CFB HC is recruiting, along with staff hires and running the program. To me separating a major component of the job, from the job itself, is a bit, arbitrary.

Spurrier is just lazy. If he would just work half as hard as Saban does, maybe he could win something of importance at USC and wouldn't need to mention Saban to get some attention.

OBC is old, not lazy. Or, rather, he's only lazy in the sense that he has little left to prove other than fielding a great team at USCe. Nobody would have accused him of laziness in the '90s. A lazy man wouldn't be able to build USCe into a powerhouse, however briefly.
