I really like the Gamecock's chances this year. If it's not LSU, then I want you guys to take it. It would be well deserved for a great, loyal, patient fan base. South Carolina fans have gone through some hellish years in the past and stuck it out.

As good, or better actually, than your "east" jokes.

Dick riding a division ... that's the really funny stuff though. I lol every time I see it.

wait, so Spurrier lied? you mean he doesn't like his team chemistry?

Thank you ... you know the deal. We live vicariously through our teams to some degree, and no matter how well you do, until you win the championships your still not over the proverbial hump.

Wouldn't mind, and I've been saying this all off-season, seeing SCAR and LSU in Atlanta the first week in December.

I cannot believe a Mizzou fan is in a thread about South Carolina. My stars.

m more worried about losing Ellington ... that kid was money. He made so many big catches for us these past few years I lost count.

I'd been hearing about this chemistry thing for some time over the summer though ... that this group, being starless, was working-out like mad-men on a mission and very focused.

I just hope the chemistry thing is not overplayed. They're still going to need to get after it and play ball and make good things happen.

We've got some talent and depth - we'll have to see how they react under fire.

I've seen great things come after losing stars - a lot of times people forget that even with big names there's usually a talented supporting cast making their job easier and as long as that supporting cast is still in place they can do a lot.

Where do y'all see your biggest question marks?

We've been talking chemistry a lot too - for us it's how quickly can our o-line gel (they're gonna make mistakes but we need them to bond as a unit very, very, quickly). Our d-line (although it's being replaced as well) isn't as big of a concern for me. But dat o-line....

It would be a great matchup but I don't think LSU will have the experience to pull it off this year. Maybe next year with some maturity on offense.

Secondary ... CBs specifically. That's about it. We're talented back there, but very young. We're going to be holding our collective breath every time an opposing QB drops back in the pocket the first half of this season.

As long as they're talented you should be fine then. Young guys on defense can adjust pretty quickly as long as they're not coached by Dooley. I could not believe the production we got out of true freshmen and freaking true frosh walk-ons last season (not that we were great compared to everyone but considering the circumstances it was fairly amazing, especially early on before our lack of depth really started to take its toll) and I doubt SC will be in the position of playing that many true froshies let alone walk-ons. Also, since there are so few returning QBs in the conference SC should be able to catch a break there and give those guys a bit more time to season than they'd normally have.

Do you have anyone early on the schedule that has a returning QB?

He actually did to some degree but how much I'm not sure. After the first year, he decided to get more hands on. Did that with special teams too. At least, this is what he told us and the press. Kinda explains how they got worse every year under him... That said, I'm not sure anyone was actually coaching them his final year given how bad the Dooley-Sunseri year went.

Seriously the worst defense in Tennessee history, and it's not even close.

Wasted a really good offense.

Talking about Team Chemistry, and not taking shots at other teams/coaches? Spurrier a little less confident than a month ago?

USCe has a good shot to take the East this year.

Definitely lots of positives: experienced OL, senior QB, good running back, and old ball sack as coach. They should be the slight favorites out of the gate in the East.

Mizzou, UGA, and UF will be strong competition though. I think one of these 4 teams drastically underperforms due to injuries.

A&M will have a young guy out there who can probably throw the ball around.

ECU has a scary good offense and returns their QB.

UGA has their guy with some experience and Richt always has good QBs.

Hopefully having the first three at home will be to our advantage.
