Ultimately, IMO part of the job of the college football program is to put NFL type players in a position to get drafted and to get them drafted as high as possible.

After that it's that player's responsibility to succeeed. Whether I succeed or fail in the business world isn't the job of UF after I obtained my finance degree.

But I guess in today's world if someone fails it's another ones fault.

A few points:

1)The author.... I have not verified this, but I seem to remember that he is a Maryland graduate from Ft. Lauderdale and used to write a blog for a Miami Hurricanes fan site. He caused a stir when he wrote about Dana Holgorson becoming the next Miami head coach.

Take a look at all he has written. He seems obsessed with putting down the University of Florida and even the SEC. He even attacked Chandler Parson's hairstyle. Who? Exactly. Parsons is a relatively obscure NBA player who played for the Gators.

2) Why is it the fault of the college if a player busts in the NFL? This is a logical fallacy where the ignorant nod their heads and don't really know much or think about it.

3) What is a bust? Who knows. It could mean anything. What is the author hiding?

4) This conclusion by the author completely discredits him: "A couple lessons to take away from this: Teams shouldn’t write off a player who went to a small school, avoid players from Florida colleges located outside of Miami and do not draft Penn State pass rushers"

Um, yea, go ahead and avoid players outside of Miami. Mhmm.

some of you trollers from whoville and a few others.

curious what their idea of a bust is though, i thought the article would say what they looked to deem someone a bust.

And most people don't say Alabama is pumping out busts, they are saying that Saban is.

What's probably most impressive there is the number of 1st round picks out of Miami compared to how awful they've been for the majority of the last 15 years. That's a shite load of talent that has just been wasted. The comments about Richt possibly winning a Natty there seem less outlandish when I look at that.

Edit: Clicked wrong link from search took me to single post rather than the thread.

I think that they buy into Saban's "system" and end up being successful in college. They go to the NFL and his "system" doesn't work against the best athletes in the world (see Miami); and they don't have the same amount of success they had in his system.

I think allot of recruits are starting to see that they have to become a piece to a puzzle rather than themselves.

I agree with what I think you are trying to say, and that is that most of those that that like to talk about Bama draft picks being busts are misinformed. However, that article and thus your post are both utter dogshit. No methodology whatsoever is given as to how they determine a bust, we're just supposed to take their word for it? You deserve any shite you get in this thread.

I'm Bama through and through, bud, but I call 'em like I see 'em. Sorry? It's an unsubstantiated, worthless article, just like the inane drivel posted by LSU fans on this subject.

That's amazing. Apparently the bust rate is worse for LSU guys. Surely you have an explanation for that.

As far as recruits, I think Bama is just fine.

All schools have bust. Some of us don't have as many 1st road picks. The NFL is different type of football than the college game and some players adjust some don't. Nick Saban didn't adjust very well and no one considers him a bust.

I'd like to see it broken down to busts because

Injury
Front office surrounded with shitty team
Drugs
Laziness
Arrogance
Combine hype
