Is there a rivalry here that I am unaware of?

When South Carolina ran away from the ACC in 1971 it ended all connections between UNC and USCe

They have played since then in all sports but sporadically and for both universities their in state rivalries are way more important
As I consider Wake a bigger rival than either South Carolina school

Makes me proud, seeing it was a South Carolinian who founded that university. He was born and reared about five miles from me. Col. Davie was a great man.

I enjoy football but basketball is my game

I played the game, understand the game and love the game more than any other sport.

I would take 10 defeats in football if that would mean UNC would not lose in basketball inside the ACC the entire year

Y'all, we better leave Kenan alone. That is the most beautiful stadium I have even been in. Also, the security people do not take any crap. Get too loud? Out! Drunk? Out. It is actually a very pleasant place. I still remember one occasion very vividly: the sound made when the late James Seawright hit Ron Elkins. Ol' Elk did not get up for at least five minutes and when he did he did not reenter.

But here is the one that takes the cake:

A sign after LT had long "graduated."

"You may have jock itch, but we have Dick Crum."

Funniest sign I have ever seen.

Clearly you are posting on a SEC board but claim Wake is a bigger rival

I used to love to go to Chapel Hill. Get up real early, pick up my buddy, a USC prof, stop for a Hardee's biscuit and coffee and off we'd go.

We'd get there in mid morning, leaving time for the best bookstores in the Carolinas. This was before Amazon, etc.

Many's a time I would drop a couple hundred there.

UNC is nuts. It's sitting on a gold mine and has never exploited it.It should own North Carolina high school football. From Wilmington to Siler City kids, and adults, are wearing those God-awful "Carolina Blue" hats. Though Chapel Hill, through necessity, has really changed in the past two decades, it is still one of the nicest college towns anywhere.

But USC, Tennessee, Clemson and now Georgia is picking it like a pullet. This year, the best back out of the Carolinas since Marcus Lattimore seems to be Georgia bound.

I simply do not get it.
