Meh

Too Ric Flair-ish

Guess that fits. SC just another pretender who could never make it in the bigs.

Boom. + the fact that we used 2001 before Flair did.

So it goes like this:

Ric Flair is kind of SCish who is kind of Elvisish who is kind of sci-fi movieish.

In 02 or 03, whenever we escaped with a narrow win, was my first visit to WB. I had no clue as to their run out tradition. I recall hearing that theme starting and the fans going bonkers. I have been to every SEC stadium (except A&M )and several ACC stadiums but have never had my arm hairs raised and adrenaline pumping as that day. Hell, it was just awesome.

It is the best I have experienced live and is rather intimidating as a fan in hostile territory.

there's something about music that just builds up to the players running out that makes it so much more hype

that's why I don't think clemson's is that great. yeah they run down the hill, but there's no buildup to it with energetic music. they just stand up there and run out randomly so there's no huge buildup to it

But they have the balloons....don't forget about the hundreds of orange and purple balloons they release to the heavens as they run down the hill. It's so....awe-inspiring: it reminds everyone of the great promise for Humanity....

Gamecocks won ... it was a slugfest, now known as the "Rodney" game.

Sterling Sharpe, Brad Edwards, Harold Green, et al, that '87 team was our best team for decades, talent wise. I think 14 off that team ended-up playing in the NFL with quite a few of them Pro Bowlers.

And don't forget Ryan Bethea

Ryan Bethea Catch & Harold Green TD Run

Brad Edwards Pick-6

Black Death is a really cool nickname for a defense. Do SCar fans still rock that saying?

FWIW I was just a kid when we stopped using them but I miss those old uniforms. Garnet helmets with black or garnet tops + white pants + Gamecocks on the front?

Nah, too long ago for any current student or relatively recent graduate to remember. Plus with all the success we've had lately the '80s success may fall in the memories of Gamecocks.

Not to mention I think some older Gamecock fans will tell you it was the Fire Ant defense, especially in 1984, because of the jersey color and the way they "would swarm to the ball"

Black Magic offense, Fire Ant defense I believe.

Call me old fashion, but I'ld rather hear the band/fight song as the team enters the field instead of piped in radio music.

When it was first started they had the band play it, no one could hear it though because the crowd noise completely drowned it out. Therefore, they had to play it over the loudspeakers and it hasn't changed since.

Some of the older Ags might disagree, but I really think the intro we've been using the past couple of years is the best we've had. I'm not even a Kanye West fan, but that "Power" instrumental is such a cool ramp up track, especially when the student section gets to vocalizing like in that video. Hope we keep that song for a long time and make it our own like SC has done with 2001: A Space Odyssey and VT with Enter Sandman.

I would be rattled coming into this. Jeez. Imagine how loud this must be when on the field.

The best part, to me, was the drum beat by the cadets. That is probably because I'm commissioning this year from the Ole War Skule (LSU) in december. LSU used to have the third biggest corps of cadets behind West Point and TAMU. I appreciate traditions and military history.
