South Carolina is hosting an NCAA tournament game for the first time in 13 years, and there are more than a few members of the NAACP who aren't happy about it.

The Palmetto State is under an NCAA tournament ban because it flies the Confederate flag on the statehouse grounds. But the organization is allowing the SEC champion Gamecocks to host games this weekend because of a new format delegating home dates to top-16 seeds in March Madness.

Count a win for the Statehouse supporters. Much needed after losing to the Aggie Yell Practice last year imo.

This issue is ancient. Would have been better to post this when it actually was keeping us from hosting things.

Yet the NCAA and NAACP have no problem when Regionals are held in South Carolina. This whole thing is BS.

Mississippi has the damn battle flag on their state flag. The flag was removed from atop the state house like they asked and it's still not enough.

Oh well, their "ban" hasn't hurt money coming into the state at all. Look at Charleston.

I'd say it's closer to 5228 times

Yep. Y'all thought y'all beat someone good with all that celebrating. How did that top 5 ranking y'all got from it end up?

This issue is so dumb.

It has prevented us from hosting NCAA Men's Tournament regionals, which is unfortunate. Colonial Life Arena is a perfect place for a regional.

However, WBB moved to a baseball-esque system for the tournament. The NAACP is silent when we are hosting the baseball playoffs every year.

The flag was taken off the top of the statehouse and as a compromise put on the statehouse grounds.

The NAACP said "Nah, frick this compromise shite. We gonna hold out til we get our way"

I mean there is a statue of a former governor whose nickname is "Pitchfork" because of his enthusiasm for lynching and bringing a pitchfork to them. NAACP doesn't care about that. Just a symbol that can mean anything to anyone

Their policy is that if the hosting to merit based then they won't protest, but if its a predetermined destination then they will.

Its why the ACC baseball tournament had to move out of Myrtle Beach

What? Aggies were complaining left and right about never being interfered with so much.

Yes, I get that. WBB is hosting based on merit this year, and the NAACP is still complaining.

Honestly, you would think that the NAACP would instead choose this event to show their support for one of the few minority coaches in the league who has their team in the tournament as a #1 seed at a school that has no WBB history.
