All coaches look better with an elite player at QB, Dabo is no different. Before DW was there, Dabo was seen as an average coach who could never get over that proverbial hump to elite status year in and year out.

CLemson was 10-4, 11-2 and 11-2 in the seasons prior to Watson.

no program is 'elite' every season.

that's your fallback excuse. the sec always been overrated and if you thought it was good past two years, you are delusional.

The Boyd teams had two wins over Auburn, a win over UGA, and a win over LSU. those UGA and LSU teams beat SC in the same season.

Clemson is benefiting at getting SEC type talent while playing in a average conference. The only team that can compete with Clemson on a talent level is FSU. The ACC is basically Clemson and FSU in football.

Few teams are stacked like Bama to make it on pure talent yearly. Meyer had Tebo and Cardale. Is he a flash in the pan too? Is Saban the only coach you deem worthy, because he doesn't need a transcendent QB?

Dabo was mastering his craft with his sights set on a bigger goal. Like him or not, he's a proven winner. Winners want to play with and for other winners, as USCjr is about to see this recruiting class. This class has the kind of talent Spurrier was killing us with. The worm has turned.

ACC beat SEC last year on the field, and two years ago in several bowl games. for example, G Tech destroyed MSU's best team in decades in a bowl game.

CLemson's offense doesn't look like anything SEC is doing offense, so where is the SEC talent on offense.

Never said Clemson's offense looked like anything in the SEC. I said Clemson is getting SEC type talent. In other words, Clemson is getting the talent that would have most likely went to an SEC school 4, 5 or 6 years ago. Clemson has done a very well job in recruiting the state of Florida and Georgia.

i don't understand what makes it 'SEC type talent' if the players didn't go to a SEC school. you just doing marketing for your conference. your premise apepars to be these players would have gone to SEC schools a few years ago but no evidence of that is provided.

SEC didn't have any QBs nearly as good as Watson so you can't say Watson is 'SEC type talent'.

If Clemson wasn't in their current state and was just an average to above average team like they were in the 90's early 2000's...none of those players on the team now from the state of Florida or Georgia wouldn't be playing for an UF, UGA, Auburn, Bama, LSU, etc.? Hey, I give Clemson credit....they have stole a lot of players from those teams and now they are in the middle of the recruiting bed where a lot of those SEC teams use to dominate.

As far as Watson goes...he is just one of those special players like Tebow and Newton.

FIFY

BTW, I'm a closet Ole Miss fan but there is no longer denying what happened at Ole Miss.

There has never been any doubt whatsoever that Clemson pays players - they've done it off and on since '75. Everyone knows it, they have a great system and network though ... one day they'll be popped.

Average coach? What about those 11 win seasons that are a big deal in Columbia?

Before 2015, the two times Clemson won 11 games with Dabo as head coach they lost to us by double digits. In 2012, we were missing both Connor Shaw and Marcus Lattimore.

There's no question that Dabo is a good coach, but Watson surely elevated Clemson to a level that they couldn't get to with Boyd. That and Brent Venables defense.

Damn straight.

That picture is from the Bowden era; has to be close to ten years old. Page saw an old lady leave that at the bus stop and was returning it to her. Fine young man.
