-Both finished third in division
- Both played LSU and Florida, and lost both. A&M had both at home, SC had both on the road
-Both went 11-2
-One has a defensive standout, the other an offensive standout

So how good of a season did A&M REALLY have last year? Is it only a good season because they won a popularity contest?

They were new and exceeded expectations ... plus they upset Bama.

They were the flavor of the day last season. Let's see if they can continue their good fortunes this season with the target they are going to have on their asses. It'll be interesting to watch as it unfolds.

The non flame response would be that it was great based on the expectations.
Most people expected SC to have double digit wins and have a good season. Most expected A&M to struggle to be bowl eligible. We didn't have any better of a season really, it just seemed better compared to what everyone was expecting

You are 100% correct. We play an exciting brand of football and won 11 games in our first year in the mean ole SEC. We beat the national champions on the road and our QB won the Heisman as a freshman. I know that you are trolling, but whatever. Its not hard to comprehend this.

Texas A&M beat Alabama, the eventual national champion, at Bryant-Denny. Alabama crushed Michigan 41-14 in their game against them to start the season. South Carolina needed the final seconds of the fourth quarter to put Michigan away in the Outback Bowl.

2012 Texas A&M > 2012 South Carolina.

Coming from an Arky fan of all people.

Combined score of Arkys two games against the 'midgets' last year? 96-30 in favor of the midgets. Your trolling is weak brah, pick on the ULMs of the world...oh wait

So pretty much you're us saying "But we beat Georgia!"

Got it. You're acting like Ole Miss when they beat Florida in the swamp. One game doesn't make a season. And the Heisman isn't the same prestigious award it used to be, in regards to it being whoever ESPN talks about the most.

It's still the greatest honor a college football player can have, but it's not what it used to be.

I think they had a great season, although, so much of that is attributed to 1 player, but you can't hate on them for that. Manziel was the Story of the season last year and he was the Story of the off season this year.

aTm's defense needs a lot of help, but their offense should be really good this year. Some of the west teams will be better prepared for Sumlin's offense this go round, but we'll have to wait and see if that makes a difference.

LSU beat A&M, who beat Bama, who beat LSU, who lost to Florida, who beat South Carolina, who beat UGA, who beat Florida... need I continue?

ETA: incorrect on one game

I respectfully disagree. Alabama is a dynasty. They are the elite of college football and will be for some time. We beat them in their Mecca, with a QB that no one knew who the frick he was before the season started. We are talking about a team that was supposed to fall on its face and take turns getting raped by the SEC. That did not happen. In this case, considering the circumstances and facts, yes, one game defined a season.

So:

aggy 2012 = Ole Miss 2008

Congrats, I guess.
