If we refused to pay Marvin Wilson's asking price you damn sure better believe we didn't pay LL's...

Exactly. What about a quarterback? Seems like we would have had more luck with qbs if we were doling out cash to recruits lol. Its not like we didn't realize we had a glaring problem at qb for several years right? Or what about the elite linebackers in chris allen (southern lab) or dylan moses (uhigh) both from baton rouge at a position of need at the time? I really doubt we let both of those guys go to frickin bama if we are paying players.

LSU fans are so sensitive. Give them a fact and they get all upset.

Lsu does what they want and gets away with it, deal with it

Amen. Don't understand the downvotes on something that is enlightening to the landmass and coonass nations.

Anyone who thinks LSU or any other SEC or Power 5 conference team doesn't pay for SOME players is straight up lying to themselves.
Now with the LL situation things went sour towards the end and I believe ( no sources, just connecting dots) that he became too open about wanting money and went about it the wrong way. Instead of dealing with boosters behind the scenes, he asked coaches for money and most schools realized that this kid wasn't discrete enough abd would become a problem. That's why Ole Miss, LSU, and Bama backed off at the last minute.

Not only do they pay kids that come to their school, they pay kids that don't come to their school. Every school has boosters that toss money around to prospective recruits and their people. There is no doubt in my mind that Leo Lewis received money from people associated with multiple schools. Alabama was almost assuredly involved towards the beginning, that's how players of that caliber are recruited.
The schools that do this successfully make sure there are a couple of degrees of separation between the money changing hands and anybody directly employed by or associated with the school. This is where Ole Miss went wrong, with allegedly having an assistant AD directly facilitating these payments (among a host of other improprieties).

And this is when things turn sloppy. Both the school and the recruit have to be hip to the whole set up. You have to operate through back channels. It's very seldom that the price 'got too high'and that's why schools bow out. The school has got to keep face and the recruit has to operate through back channels to get what he wants, which most schools are willing to do but only if it stays well behind the scenes.

If by fact, you mean totally made up and outright false testimony you would be correct
I know for a fact Leo asked for money and LSU laughed him out the door. The question at some point in the future is going to be how much did State pay him?
