Whatever helps you sleep better after a game like that.

So do Clemson/Baylor/OSU worry you on defense? Maybe Baylor less so with their backup

Clemson has a great QB and a solid run game, but FSU, Louisville and Notre Dame gave them problems. I would feel pretty good about it.

The Baylor thing is kind of a giant unknown. I mean, I think we'd contain them, but what does that equate to in terms of yards and points? I don't know.

Ohio State will cause problems if they are playing at the level they did last year. Barrett is very good and can run and Elliot is a stud. However, we are faster and better on the DL and secondary than we were last season.

So, I guess my response would be that nobody "scares" me. Our defense is as good as it is has been since Saban has been at Alabama (I think it is 2011 good). That doesn't mean I don't think OSU or Clemson wouldn't make some plays and move the ball. OSU's athletes, coaching and balance would probably be the scariest of all of them.

From this outsider's view, Alabama and LSU are the pretty much the same team. Both want physical running games with dominant lines on offense, and big physical defenses that can stifle running games. Though LSU recruits very well, Alabama recruits a bit better. Alabama has a pretty big advantage in coaching. So you get a lot of close games where Bama normally wins. Both are better than pretty much everyone else, but they occasionally lose to teams that play a different style that poses them specific matchup problems. JMO.

Agree

Don't agree. LSU has never been like this. Under Chavis they were always a bit smaller and faster, which is one of these reasons they had such success in defending the first spread teams (especially Manziel). Alabama has recently implemented more of this, especially this year.

LSU took what we thought was our biggest strength, which is a big physical O line and a big physical running back and attacked Alabama's strength, which is a big dominant front 7 with plenty of depth. We ran plenty of stretch plays, pulled plenty of guards. We tried to run zone read and we tried to run power I between the tackles. When the ball was snapped their D line moved the line of scrimmage 2 to 3 yards backwards on every play. Their D ends, while penetrating, never got sucked inside. They played with outside leverage, making it impossible to get to the corners and get up field. Their strength negated everything we do best. I expected LSU to come out with wide splits between our O linemen to create gaps and try to throw some quick hit passes on first down, which we did not. We attacked their strength instead of their weakness, which would have been pass coverage against our taller receivers. With that said, I dont think it would have mad a whole lot of difference when we are getting beat that badly up front, the QB doesnt have a lot of time to set his feet and deliver the ball. Even though we tied the score at 10 right before the half, I knew by the way we were getting shoved around that by the 4th quarter, we would be exhausted and the game would be out of hand. Its a bad loss, but it only counts as 1 loss. I look for us to rebound and win this week. This year, Bama was a bad match up for LSU, we just couldnt see it before we actually squared off.
