You need a rule change to slow it down. You better hope Smart goes to LSU. HE doesn;t know how to stop it. You have to outscore it.

Teams that rely on passing the ball over running in the clutch usually falter....my only point. Just citing this game....not the actual style of offense OSU runs.

I see how my post was interpreted....so yes you are correct OSU runs a spread offense.

I thought Auburn didn't play that fast?

We beat that arse the following year and it wasn't a huge game. Season opener, in fact.

The problem with their offense is that they are far too finesse. OSU ran the ball down their throats tonight, and thats the same thing Auburn did in 2010 as well as last year when a significantly more talented FSU team barely squeaked by.

A "finals caliber" team typically has enough defense to slow Oregon down.

Oregon loses because they're weak on the o and d lines. Also, teams that have time to prepare seem like they're successful in slowing them down.

extra fanfare and TV timeouts

Oregon couldn't consistently get 1st downs tonight. Their inability to reach their desired pace was because the Ohio St. defense was better than the Oregon offense. No broadcast has ever taken an TV timeout in the middle of drive for no good reason.

True, but more TV timeouts and extended half times would certainly benefit the defense over the course of a game by giving them time to catch their breath against a HUNH team.

FWIW, this isnt a complaining thread, I'm just postulating reasons why Oregon can't win the big one. I have no problem with the rules as they exist today.

Oregon doesn't win National Championships, its as simple as that. There's a reason they've never done it. And that reason is they dont have the tradition. Ohio State did.
