Dan Mullen is a pie in the sky hire? Wow UM has fallen off a cliff.

I think Shula would be a good hire there. Big name in Miami. Did a good job at Bama, given the circumstances.

I'd be fine with Mike Shula going there. Wouldn't be a huge loss for the Panthers.

IMO, Butch Davis is the leading candidate. He has been successful everywhere he has been, he built the most talented roster in college football history as the HC before, and he wants the job.

63 years old and NCAA issues. I'd say that chances of him being the next HC are <5%.

I think Shula would do fine there. The pressure and his inexperience got him at Bama. He did a good job given the circumstances.

My money is on Butch though although I don't see how a school could touch him given his history of NCAA trouble.

Yes, those are the negatives. The positives are winning.

They should get an unproven HC like a GUs Malzahan.

UM could explore pie-in-the-sky candidates such as Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen (Miami spoke to him and had some interest before it hired Golden) and TCU’s Gary Patterson, but those types of names would be long shots

How great is the SEC when this is the case

Reporter: Uh Coach Nutt, you signed 137 this signing period. The ncaa only lets add 25 on scholarship each year. You can only have 85 on scholarship at any given point. That's more than you can conceivably get in at Ole Miss. Why sign so many?

CHN: We realize most of these kids aren't going to end up at Ole Miss but we can use our connections with the jucos in Mississippi and get them a shot at playing ball at the next level. You see, as coaches at Ole Miss, we try to do what we can to help people out. We are in the people helping business.

I think that's money more than anything. Read an article that stated Miami won't be paying more than 3M a year. That excludes every HC in SEC i think.
