but why does Bama just expect to shut down a good team with a top 5 running back in the country.

Because we've been doing it for years, and this may be the best D-line Saban has had.

yes, the ones that held ohio state's rushing game to 142 yards on 40 attempts outside of 2 big runs for 54 and 85 yards, both the fault of the LBs not the DL.

Greatest. Cherry-picking. Ever.

I don't know about the group, but my thinking will be: "Bama is better than I thought, and Georgia is not as good as I thought."

I wouldnt be surprised at all if Alabama wins the game. If it wasnt a road game, I would expect them to win it. Either way, should be a good game to watch, its not an upset, no matter who wins.

IDGAF what other people think. BAMA is a strong team as always. If UGA loses, the season is not over. They will have more chances to prove their selves if needed. SECCG and CFP would still be in their reach.

Even if UGA wins they will be overate "Alabama is down this year"

and shuts down their running game? Chubb overated? LSU fans will be complaining about refs? I think we really do have a good chance of doing that with just our linemen, they are that good against the run.

I hope I am dead wrong, but I think Bama blows the doors off of UGA.

I also think this game will determine whether Bama makes the playoffs or not. I say that, because I don't think Bama loses a game after this (I fully expect them the rip LSUs heart out again). So if the tide wins, they end up in the playoff. If they lose, there is really no way.

That Richt Richted another one. Georgia's always the best team that can't win the big ones.

And the OP was the one who said the DL would shut down the run game (which you seem to dispute since the Bama DL clogs lanes freeing LBers to make, or not make, plays). So maybe your real beef is with the OP
i am the op. i had issue with your statement. bama contained the ohio state rushing attack very well, except for 2 runs, neither of which was on the DL. depriest wiffed on a tackle at the sideline that would have stopped the 54 yard run for about 3 yards. hamilton and depriest let themselves both get blocked by a single WR on the 85 yarder, should have been stopped at the los

Your OP said the Bama DL can stop UGA's running game. How can you blame Bama LBers for not stopping the running game then? Either Bama's DL is supposed to stop the running game or the LBers are. Or, it's a combined effort which it obviously is, so the OP should say "I think Bama's front 7 is the best of Saban's time" as opposed to just saying the DL when you don't even think the DL is wholly responsible

You're including sacks in here.

It was actually 163 yards on 37 attempts if your talking about their rushing attack. This still includes an 11 yard loss when Jones was trying to run out the clock on their last offensive play of the game. Take that out and it's 174 yards on 36 attempts which is 4.8 ypc.

It's a pretty even matchup but I expect Bama to win a close game. That DL along with those LBs were made to stop the run. As long as Bama doesn't gift the game away with turnovers, I think they win.

I feel like it's made to stop the inside run. Running outside has proven effective against Bama in the recent past

Most years, running east and west vs. Bama has spelled disaster for opposing teams, despite what some would tell you about our "fat, slow" LB's. I'm not saying no team has EVER had success doing it, but it's not a recipe for success usually.

Seems like your best bet is to be a spread team with a dual threat qb if u want to have the best chance at beating bama.

I mean I'm taking my chances outside with Bama. That's more what I was implying. If the front 3 is legit, you have a better chance if you can somewhat neutralize them

Exactly what I think. I haven't felt good about our execution/production in any game so far this year.

But shite, I felt the exact same way this time last year and I ended up partying my arse off in Atlanta after Bama won it's 24th SEC Championship.

Well, the Ole Miss loss was a bit of a fluke.

not at all. If Ole Miss would have needed 6 turnovers to win the game, they would have went out and got another ball. if Ole Miss would have needed 50 points to win the game, they would have scored another touchdown. Ole Miss was the better team, and would win 7 out of 10 games against Bama...deal with it, and move on.

I don't have a dawg in that fight. But 2 fumbled kick-offs, an "up for grabs" deflected long TD, etc., only led to a 1 TD victory. There is really no other objective way to view it than to say Ole Miss was very good and very fortunate.
