It's great watching everyone (but Bama) melt after we beat them with O. Even Bama knows deep down we scared them for three quarters more than anyone else by far.

Bama knows more than most about backing in to bowl games.

This thread has remained fairly classy involving several different fan bases starting with the OP. It is called The Rant for a reason, but honest assessments and real football talk is what the majority here really want. I'm a LSU fan and a big fan of college football. Most LSU fans (level headed ones) know we're not a playoff team this year. LSU's record and body of work thus far is reflected fairly in todays AP Poll. IMHO.

If LSU wins out (and I think they will) they certainly deserve it. They lost early to Wisc by 1 play & AU by 1 play. Offense was their problem then and it has improved. Defense is for real.

I agree. I think LSU deserves a Sugar Bowl invite if they win out (not just b/c I'm an LSU fan). This is based on their body of work and what actually happened on the field (not in the papers). The opening loss to Wisky was by 2 points and a tough loss. Harris threw an interception on a possible game winning drive. The Auburn loss was by 5 points. There's no need to revisit the end of that game, we all know that epic finish. The Alabama loss was by 10 points. A lot can be drawn from that game, but LSU held Bama to 10 points and Bama shutout LSU which are the facts. We have a 6-3 LSU Team with 3 losses (2 conference) by 17 total points.

The conclusion.... This is a very good football team. LSU is a better team than most opposing fans on this board give them credit for. LSU is not as good of a team as some LSU fans on this board give them credit for. The fact is LSU has played well as a team after the head coach was fired and being held back by running an archaic offense. I think their current ranking is justified and deserve a Sugar Bowl invite if they beat UF & A&M.

It's time to build a wall around the University of Alabama and make the SECR great again.

I think LSU would deserve an invite if they win out, I just think the Sugar Bowl selection committee would take Auburn to ensure more economic revenue for the game due to travel and lodging.

LSU would then go to the Citrus or possibly Orange Bowl.

The Sugar Bowl doesn't get to decide. If the best team in the conference goes to the playoffs, they are locked into taking the 2nd ranked team in the conference per the playoff committee rankings.

Well, nevermind then. Wasn't aware the CFB playoffs committee rankings mattered beyond the final four.

Still thought obligation was only to the conference winner.

I think it was a special arrangement because of this historic ties between the SEC and the Sugar Bowl. I'm honestly not sure if there similar deals in place for other New Year's 6 bowls or not.
