Beyond UGA providing excellent opportunities by turning the ball over repeatedly, it may be that the teams are actually better---and thus beat each other up.

Solid troll

This isnt the thread for that. I'm trying to spark non flaming/trolling discussion to try and dissect what is wrong with our conference all of a sudden. We have a reputation to uphold and with college football moving to a new format next year we need to stay strong and keep it going otherwise people will just say the BCS system somehow benefited us more.

the SEC is just bad this year

it's the best it has ever been. Great coaches all around, except for bielema. He wanted to compare the big10 to the SEC.

Yeah, is it just me or does he look like he has a permanent "DUH" look on his face?

But You make a good point in the rest of your post. We seem to have done nothing up upgrade coaches other than Arkansas losing Petrino to bad decisions. The top recruits in the country all seem to be coming to the SEC. But they arent JUST going to the top tier anymore. See Ole Miss. They have landed quite a few top tier recruits lately, SC with Clowney, Vandy even with a couple.

Maybe it is the lower teams in the conference rising up. But that somehow makes the conference look worse instead of better.

We had 5 defensive starters out and freshmen guarding LSU's stud receivers. Also had our top RB out.

We won because our coaching is amazing.

I do agree that the overall SEC in in a gradual state of decline. Looking at the east and western teams, nobody (other than Bama) is a really good well balanced football team anymore. Bowl games and out of conference match ups clearly indicate that the SEC has fallen off.

You have to wonder if Alabama is indirectly responsible for it because of their success. I definitely think it has affected the LSU program in a very negative way. Last year, our players basically gave up after losing the Bama game.

He just didn't realize that Arkansas was Purdue or Indiana, not Wisconsin.

I can't really speak to a "decline" other than to say that the SEC is what I expected - it's a weekly grind, there are no really bad teams, and anyone can fall on any given Saturday.

I don't think it's a decline as much as some traditional power teams having the same injury issues that bit Mizzou in the butt last year. If anything, I think it shows the razor thin differences in the teams - even with talent differentials, no team is more than an injury or two away from a loss. Every team in the SEC has good players, and there are lot of good coaches too.

And as far as the comment about Mizzou not playing defense...hello? Have you watched either of the last 2 games? Bottom line - Mizzou is not just undefeated, they have beat every team by at least 15 points. And we have our injuries too. That is impressive.

Bama has played poorly but has a easy schedule. I doubt they lose any games except possibly to Oregon maybe? Mizzou? OSU would be a joke in the national championship game as they have THE easiest schedule.

But I agree about the rest of the SEC. Gators, Georgia have been decimated with injuries. Tenn is rebuilding and doing a good job.

I definitely don't know what happened yesterday.

Maybe to you, as a fan of a traditional power. To the fans from Mizzou, Ole Miss, etc - maybe it looks different.

And again...injuries! The bug has bitten a lot of teams this year, Mizzou included. The differential in talent and coaching between the teams is not all that great, as much as some would like to think otherwise, and key injuries will take their toll.
