It's in everyone's interest to root for the conference to do well in the CFB and NCAA basketball tournaments. The better we do, the more money the conference gets to split.

In football, the continued perception of conference strength is the best way to get better TV deals, get better OOC games scheduled (like the kickoff classic), and potentially get a 2nd team in the CFB playoffs in a year where things break right.

While you don't have to like the team involved, you should be smart enough to see the big picture

Yep.

Mullen to recruit, "Jimmy, come to state and we can get to the music city bowl most years."

Recruit to Mullen, "I don't know coach Mullen... Saban is getting his dick sized for a ring."

Yes, I would pull for any and every SEC team if they were in the CFPO.

The way I look at it is the league is an extension of my team. All the other conferences are the competition, they despise the entire SEC, the belittle the SEC fans, stereotype the fans in negative ways, and etc. It's an us vs them mentality that I have when it comes time the SEC. The SEC teams are my brothers and sisters, sure I like making fun of and want to beat your arse but no outsider better mess with you.

Forget that SEC family stuff, it is obvious the league office does not want a level playing field. The way they treated LSU the last two week and then publically praising Florida and throwing LSU under the bus, again, screw the SEC. If the team is not LSU, I hope the SEC losses in the playoff.

I understand your frustration. Northern and PAC-12 schools have felt that way for years. Those other conferences are as cut-throat as you can get. Maybe because of the mentality in those regions of the country. You learn to swim on your own, and if you don't then you sink. Everyone knows where they stand in the terms laid out. In the SEC, there are too many who dickride the conference, yet many of those posters criticize other fans for dickriding themselves. Lots of hypocrisy but take it for what it is. A blog designed to stir the shite. No harm no foul.

AU was the last SEC team to play for the NC (other than Bama). I pulled for them until the last 2 minuets. Then I couldn't.

I used to pull for Bama to lose every game. I hate them. My logic being that if they were successful, they'd continue getting #1 classes and we could never catch up. I've come to the conclusion nothing is slowing them down outside of Saban retiring. Our cheering for a loss is futile. We've lost 3 games and somehow still ranked, which gives us national attention and helps is recruiting and getting our brand out there. If the SEC wasn't so good when winning NC's and pounding out of conference schools, we wouldn't get as much respect as we all do being middle of the pack or lower SEC teams. We do benefit from Bama being so good, as much as we hate to admit it. This is coming from a very humbled man who finally sobered up after losing this weekend.

2011 and the playoffs have killed SEC solidarity.

Nope! In case you haven't noticed, this CFP party is a Conference Champions only invitation thingy. There will be no party crashing by better teams.

The only reason that I would want you guys pulling for us is so that you could blame the officials if we lose.

Wont happen. This is for conference champs only now. Until they expand the playoffs will you REALLY get the best teams in.
The Voters believe the first place PAC 12 (or whatever) team is better than the 2nd place SEC team. Sometimes...most of the time they aren't.
2009- Florida should have rematched us. Anybody with half a brain knew they were lightyears better than Texas but Texas had not lost so they had no choice. If we had beaten UF on a last second FG. I believe they would have fell to 2. Saban said as much and knew he had to blow them out to play Texas.

I'd pull for any SEC team, save probably Auburn or Tennessee if all things are equal.

That said, even with my distaste of AU, I pulled for them to beat FSU. I dislike FSU even more, especially considering that lowlife they had at QB. Probably the only time I cheered for AU to actually mud stomp someone.

Worked out best for us in this scenario, considering the alternative would have likely been Texas beating someone in another bowl, finishing undefeated, and there being a split title.
