That Rutgers ranking is very misleading. They're only ranked 17th in pass defense because they were behind all the time. In terms of pass efficiency defense, they're only ranked 98th in the country. A team like Stanford is ranked 53rd in total pass defense but they were ranked 22nd in pass efficiency D. Same thing with Oregon State who's ranked 44th in total pass defense but 24th in pass efficiency defense. Both teams had very good pass defenses.

Also I found what could possibly be a common thread for why he performed so badly against Utah, Arizona and Colorado.
Browning was sacked 4 times vs. Arizona, a team that only had 22 sacks this year. Clearly the pressure was there that night.
Utah sacked Browning twice during their game, but they rank #8 in CFB in sacks with 40 this year. Pressure again.
Colorado ranks #20 with 35 sacks, and they sacked Browning three times in that game.
Browning has only been sacked 20 times this season, 9 of which came in those three games that he threw for less than 200 yards.
The only loss vs. USC Browning was sacked 4 times, and had a safety for a loss of 5 yards running, meaning he was essentially sacked.
For perspective Alabama has 45 sacks for a nation leading -370 yards. Pretty much like most games, if Washington can't run the ball and Browning is having to constantly drop back in obvious passing downs, Alabama will get all kinds of pressure and Browning will likely struggle. Peterson is a good coach though, he will find a way neutralize the pressure as well as anyone. I expect a lot of misdirection to try and get Bama moving laterally instead of vertically. Bama's defense is very disciplined, but you still have to try to get them taking missteps to really have a chance of moving the ball.
If Browning and his receivers can connect on a handful of those 50/50 explosive plays similar to what Kelly and Ole Miss' receivers have done the last couple of years, then this will be a game. If not, I don't think WA will move the ball enough to stay in the game.

I think this will be a really good game, if anyone is as good as peterson at doing more with less I havent seen it. He is one of the best game planners of this era against the greatest coach possibly ever.
