Serious question. Where was the Tennessee pass rush Saturday? Was it there and the Vol secondary was just that bad?

We brought more than a 4 man rush once all game. I think this was in the interest of keeping things as vanilla as possible for OU, although there may have been other reasons. We still had 3 sacks in the game though, so not too bad.

Watch this tape.
We were after him early and often.
There were times he was getting pulled down and still threw it on a rope perfectly.
He also got the ball out very quick as well.
But yes our CBs were getting beat on vertical routes all day.
They literally chucked it deep 2 or 3 times a possession.

Pass rush was pretty lack luster from the front 4 most of the game. But, we were in last year's opener as well so I think that will correct itself.
We're going to need our secondary to step up and play how they were last season to have a chance.
A lot of people are underestimating TN's offense in this game. We're going to move the football and put up points, but we're going to have to either A) Generate a much improved pass rush or B) Have our secondary play improve in a big way. But preferably C) Both of the above.
We blitzed one time during the BGSU game by design. There's going to be a ton of differences defensively against OU. I wouldn't be surprised to see Chris Weatherd spy on Mayfield either. I think he will be used much like Stryker was used against us last season.
Defense will have to play much better though for us to have a shot. We will put points on the board I have no doubt, but we'll see if we can improve enough to grab the W.

Wow I'll give yall credit that QB is great. But man you guys got burned a ton. Their WR's were way in front of your DB's on a lot of those throws. Add in the screens seemed very effective and the pics they used were really confusing your secondary and LBers. Surprised how poor Maggitt looked though, but he's been hurt hasn't he?

I've been nice to Vol fans on every website for years. Felt bad for what they were going through, this years off season was brutal and they kind of really started going after UF. So eventually we had to start returning fire. I've never actually hated Tenn. I've gone twice for games and had a great time, good people. It's just been ridiculous how much crap as a UF fan I've had to hear from Tenn this year. So now it's time to return it. In the end, it's put up or shut up now after a full off season hearing you're going to crush us and be elite.
