A&M vs Bama was second highest rated game in College Station, TX this year.

wait.

Hold on.... checking my notes.

here it comes...

It was actually the second highest rated college game of the entire football season prior to last nights game. Highest rating anywhere was from Austin area.

Now then... please feel free to stick this post smooth up your arse.

A&M is 6th nationally in fan support, ahead of LSU, and gets great TV ratings.

So my understanding has been that TU will not play A&M but the Ags want to, i general. Yesterday on the pre SECCG broadcast one of the studio guys said A&M and the SEC made it clear that they didn't want the Ags in the Cotton against TU. I even rewinded it to make sure I heard it right. Any truth to that? Would love to watch that game.

He had it backward. And is obviously a stupid thing to say considering it was publicly known we offered to continue the series.

Lot of stupid, whiny bitching by A&M fans in this thread.

FACTS
1) LSU is close enough to Dallas to be considered a "regional" choice (meaning the Cotton Bowl is guaranteed to get a good turn from LSU fans)
2) LSU is in the top 10
3) LSU has the same record that we do and has head to head over us (personally, I don't think this is a big deal because of the Bama>LSU>TAMU>Bama circle, but whatever)
4) There's enough high-level ill will between Texas and A&M (that is, between the admins, not between the players like ND-Miami in the late 80s/early 90s) that matching them up could cause problems.

Considering all of this together, LSU is a completely reasonable and legitimate choice that lets the CoBo committee avoid all of the potential baggage of an A&M choice. Their getting the nod over us is not evidence of a conspiracy.

Finally, latest bowl projections have us facing off against top 15 Clemson. Even though the Cotton Bowl is a "better bowl," Clemson is the better opponent.

Surely you won' t believe me and I don't know why I'm saying this but your conspiracy theories are outlandish and is it so hard to believe that this is just how things fell? Why is everything that negatively happens to A&M automatically UT's fault? Again, get off this UT obsession, you don't play them anymore.

aren't you like 20? all the aggies in this thread are embarrassing, we're going to a bowl we should win and we are in the pecking order we deserve. let's just wrap up an 11 win top 10 season and move onto next year with momentum in our favor.

Dear God we have a sane Aggie fan folks!!!

If OU would have gone to the Sugar this would have been the case, but if OU goes to the Cotton that automatically becomes the best non-BCS bowl matchup LSU vs. OU.

Tough game last night. Game was closer than expected with McCoy throwing the ball pretty well. That defense is awful.

Oh well... recruiting season just around the corner. I know how much you guys like signing day.

I refuse to tell you again I'm not a texas fan, but continue acting like i am and add to that post count.

Ftr, I haven't watched more than a half of texas football until last night this season. Just saying...

ETA: Clearly this opinion I am a texas fan hinges on the arguments against A&M fans i have on here, and I see A&M fans calling ppl on here "sips" constantly, its insane.

Sure.. only Ags use other names for texass fans. Sure, it is only us. Never heard a texass fan address an aggie by anything other than "aggie".

Thinking there is good chance you guys end up in Alamo bowl now that OU might go to Cotton. Good luck.

Instead of A&M shirts and posters do you have all UT merchandise and cross all the logos out with a big red marks-a-lot?

Agreed. LSU v. OU would be better than A&M v. Clemson (though it's close. OU is ranked 2 above Clemson and LSU is ranked 1-2 ahead of A&M).

We'll see if Northern Illinois manages to sneak into the top 16 of the BCS. I'm really hoping the computers keep them out. Iowa is the 2nd worst team in a very down Big Ten (I'd say Illinois is worse). Losing to them ought to keep NIU out just on principle.

The last second A&M to cotton bowl switch proves Texas was openly lobbying the cotton bowl not to take us. And this supposed "national LSU brand" got passed over for little old A&M that nobody cares about.

Man, you need to review the meaning of the word "Proof".
