SB Nation - SEC Rivalry Focused Divisional Setup

Their main points

1. Every SEC rivalry protected (3 permanent opponents)
2. Every SEC team would play every other SEC team within every two years
3. Schedules end up pretty balanced from a SOS perspective
4. Without true "divisions" the SEC Championship is the two best teams.

Yea, not everyone's 3 are perfect, but the flip side is you get Tennessee and Florida back pretty frequently.

Makes too much since, they will not do it.

It looks great to me to me though.

I personally like this idea. It sucks to have to wait 6-7 years to play a team for a home-and-home.

Aren't divisions required to have a championship game?

Awful idea. We'll never allow it.

Pretty sure the Big XII just created one without divisions didn't they?

I thought they were making 5 team divisions. Maybe that changed

Bama would be the only school to face four Big 6 opponents every year. Of course you all like it

I know the Big XII is having the title game with 10 teams. I'm not sure if they got a waiver for smaller divisions or got a waiver that they didn't need divisions.

Either way, I'm sure if the SEC decided they wanted to do something like this they would figure out a way to get it done.

I THINK divisions are no longer required for a championship game. But I still don't like the idea. I'm not sure why.

I think their waiver is just having the title game and not enough teams

The Division I council adopted a proposal allowing FBS conferences with less than 12 members to hold conference title games between the top two teams in its standings, so long as the conference plays a full round-robin regular-season schedule.

I'd rather keep divisions too. There won't be too many students up for a regular away game played at USCe one weekend, and then another East team the next. Geography has to play a role to keep the students involved.
