It's not a shovel pass anyway, and the only reason he threw it that way was because the defender's nuts were in his face.

That was not a designed play.

I don't think she was saying it was a shovel pass. I think that GIF was directly in relation to "I've never seen a QB throw underhand"

Love the choice of phrasing.

But his elbow is at his side while his arm is perpendicular to his waist, then his arm comes forward. Classic sidearm.

Well I had never seen that gif before. Now I've seen one quarterback kind of throw it underhanded. But it's a sidearm anyway so the point is moot.

I wasn't. Just like I said earlier a shovel pass isn't mimicking motion for motion shoveling. It's pushing it forward like you would dirt. Just making a point as you said.

And no, it's not a sidearm either.

Look at the angle he's throwing it at. It's clearly underhanded.

Look Belle, a shovel pass is just a forward pitch. It in no way whatsoever mimics the motion of pushing a shovel full of dirt forward. I'm sorry but that is just wrong.

The term is derived from the throwing motion that you most commonly see on toss sweeps that truly resembles shoveling.

Of course you never really see a forward pass like that nowadays though.

Speaking of not making any sense, I've never heard anyone say "shuttle" or "shuffle" pass.
