Look up what a flagship school is. UGA is the flagship university of Georgia. Rankings are irrelevant in that title.

Is UG the only school that claims flagship status but isn't even the highest rated public school in the state?

Big 6 always has been and always will be a purely SEC thing.
National Championships don't mean squat as far as Big 6 status is concerned.
It is the 6 teams that dominate the SEC.
It is the 6 teams that have an all time winning record against the conference as a whole.
It is the 6 teams that have ever won the SEC championship game.
Heck, Georgia is big 3, in terms of all time SEC championships, all time winning percentage in SEC games, etc, behind only Alabama and Tennessee.
I like making fun of them just as much as any other Auburn fan, but come on, if any teams were going to fall out of the Big 6, Auburn and Florida would be the first to go, with only 8 championships apiece.
BTW, in order for that to happen, the next school in line, Ole Miss, would have to win 3 SEC championships before 1 of the other 2 teams won another.

Yep, just biding my time til I can take my posting over there. I have no idea why, but I think it's like how people aren't really all that attracted to someone until they're off the market, then they are attracted to them because they know they can't have them.

I know I can't post on the auburn board and for some reason it really irritates me

Til april

Yes, but you aren't going far enough with this thread.

Nobody outside of the State of Alabama has been relevant in college football (much less the SEC) in 5 years.

Alabama and Auburn are ruining college football for the rest of the country.

Alabama and Auburn - putting the AA in NCAA (not even sure what this means, but whatever).

The flagship university/college in a state is widely considered the first one, or the largest. UGA is both the first and the largest.

The Goobers have been DAMN consistent over the past decade or more. I don't really care about this big 6 crap, but it's ridiculous to deny that UGA is one of the top programs in the SEC.

With that said, frick Georgia, but most importantly....

Georgia is 3rd in the league all time in SEC titles, only 1 measly title behind Tennessee. When 4 other teams surpass our SEC title number then maybe we can revisit this discussion.

I know everyone is trolling...but UGA will always be one of the Big 6.
