It would have been better, but eventually we will be at 4 16-18 team conferences. With 8 spots to get into the playoffs.

I will say this for the expansion teams -- their fans don't bitch nearly as much as the fans of some charter members. That alone makes them welcome.

You still mad? Maybe you could move your team out of the SEC. Is LSU still broke and need the money?

If Arkansas SC Missouri and A&M had created a four team conference I would have never joined the secrant and would have never gotten brain cancer...

12 was perfect. 5 division games and 3 cross division games. 1992 - 2013 were the golden years of the SEC.

Practically no, not when four conferences have mega-conference status for playoff structure for football

Arkansas and Junior are still getting shite for joining the conference? frick, It's never gonna end for us.

Eh, you'll quickly learn that most of the folks that start these threads on here aren't even old enough to remeber the time when Arkansas and South Carolina weren't in the conference.

With a la carte programming becoming ever more popular ESPN is losing millions each month. It will be interesting to see how the money plays out after a couple more years of ESPN losing so many subscribers.

In the last two months combined ESPN lost 1.2 million subscribers for a loss of profit of 100 million.

Before the expansion and evolution of College football, we were lucky to get a game on TV. The rise of espn and other cable networks has raised everybody's ability to see their team each and every week.Which is great for the fans. The SEC expansion in 92 setting up the conference championship game, guaranteeing our conference champion another quality win was brilliant. These were some of the first steps into what we really needed all of those years. Playoffs. It is still a work in progress but I foresee an eventual 8 game playoff. In my opinion SEC expansion has been one of the biggest success stories in sports.

# schools-wise, I can see 4 18/20 confs..
But 16 makes scheduling a lot easier. 18 is just as bad as 14 & 20 might take 12 years to do full H/H cycle with everybody (not to mention how many games/year will the NCAA propose?).

Well, they brought us a championship game. I don't think you understand what round robin means. There are no divisions with round robin. Our TV contract would be much smaller without the added markets and as the Big12 has experienced, you can drop in the polls just by not having a championship game.

So that's pretty much what they brought.
