Mockingbirds are fricking dicks. Every day on our run, when my coonhound and I get near the Southernmost Point, mockingbirds swoop down into my back or my dog's side. They stalk us for a block or two. frick those things.

Freaking overprotective divebombing Mockingbirds suck. Saw one chasing a squirrel across the street and a car nailed him squirrel just escaped. That was a good moment.
Hate mockingbirds.

+1 on Mockingbirds being bastards. Damn things always roost on the same branch of a tree to shite. Bastards love the branch right above the cab of my truck.

I'm liking them less and less each day. They've overtaken iguanas as my least favorite animal here. FWIW an iguana took a giant liquid shite on the hood of my white car at work.

I guess Texas would use bats as a state "bird"...

Based on this map, the grackle should be the bird of the SEC
Grackles tend to congregate in large groups, popularly referred to as a plague or annoyance. This enables them to detect birds invading their territory, and predators, which are mobbed en masse to deter the intruders.
Sounds like most stadiums in the SEC.

No...the official bird should be the turkey vulture because most teams become road kill after playing us.

The Pelican: not a single championship to its name

This is odd. Why would someone bring up the pelican in a discussion about how the mockingbird is a common state bird throughout the Southeast.

I forgot. While most UTSC undergrads are out enjoying the culture (I.e. Whataburger) that College Station has to offer, ole texag is locked in his dorm room with a bottle of Boones Farm, a jar of vasoline, and tRant, with LSU on his mind.

They taste bad. Very stringy meat. Ok if ground with beef fat and fried as a patty.

I prefer this as the official SEC bird.
