I think 9 games should be the cutoff for bowl games. There are way too many bowl games and shitty teams making them. Bowl games are a reward.

I remember when 8 win teams started going to bowls in the 70s .... and the traditional programs who had dominated the New Year's day bowls bitched like crazy - just like they bitched when scholarships were reduced.

Now it's gone to the extreme - yeah, there are too many bowls. Sending Ga Tech to a bowl last season with a missing record just to satisfy the TV inventory requirement was bravo sierra.

They need to reduce the number of bowls and raise the minimum requirement to 7 wins.

Most bowls are money losers to the programs.

Stopped reading here, because you're wrong. The Little Caesar's Bowl had a higher TV rating than the most recent Big East tournament championship game.

...and?

I bet a lot of regular season SEC games beat those numbers as well.

So you expect bowl people and ESPN to be willing to drop bowl games that do better on TV than one of their biggest basketball games each year? It's all about $$ people.

I haven't watched any of the Bowls so far...why would I? They're terrible! I'd be all for requiring more wins... Nine wins would be fine for me. As it is, most of the Bowls are inconsequential and feel like "farewell tours for shitty bands". I understand that everyone wants to see their Home team play, but for me to watch the also-rans, I need to see a team with a pulse!
