The SEC ain't getting 2 teams into the 4 team playoff most years, divisions or not.

People keep dreaming of this happening and it just won't most years.

Sometimes? Sure. Most years? Nope.

Because you can have the 3 best teams in the conference in the same division. Then the #1 has to play the #3 or #4 team in a championship game that doesn't include one of the top two teams. The #4 SEC team can win the conference when they had no business being in the game. We never should have expanded from 10 team conferences. Just play everyone in conference and whoever has the best record is your conference champ.

So you must think any of the current playoff formatst dont work either

Yes, but 14 teams I too many. As far as finding a real champion, the SECCG is a joke.

Enlighten me please.

Kind of shitty logic here. If you are in the div with the three best teams in the conference then you have already played them before the seccg....

No sport in the world only counts divisional games.

Divisional record is used as a tiebreaker is overall record is tied and the SEC does indeed do that.

Divisional games are already WAY more important due to tiebreakers. Losing to somebody in your division is effectively like losing twice.

Yes, and do away with the SEC title game.

Why knock each other out of a top 4 playoff spot.

And if there are three 7-1 or 8-1 ( if we move to 9 ) teams at 11-1 the screw boy committee can't take away credit due to a non title team.

No, that's not what I said at all. I was only talking about the conference.

The Big 12 is trying that and it doesn't work so well. The problem is that the top SEC teams would play EVERY year, with no on dodging each other.

It might be fun but it means every team is two loss or more at the end, which means bye bye SEC national relevence and a shot at something bigger.

Divisions are great because it makes the conference not such a gauntlet.

It should stay as it is. A higher ranked team is not garanteed a cake walk no matter the difference in records. Ex. 2001; #21LSU 31 #2Tenn 20.

No. In that situation, the West team that doesn't get into the Championship game has a better chance of making the playoffs if the one that did get in loses.

How about elimination of the game all together?

Would Auburn and Missouri have both gotten into the playoffs as 11-1 Co-champions?
