I remember Hurricane Opal. I was in 5th grade. We got out of school early and I was upset because I didn't think my parents would be home to let me in the house

Opal was a gawd damned whore which ruined our vacation spot. I was 13, and then I found FloraBama at such a young age and all was forgiven that following summer.

GS ... we recently moved down to Perdido Key, and I'm trying out Destin in May.

GS

Practically lived there during the summers I've still got family that lives down there.

Opal did nothing to it compared to Ivan

Destin is nice, but I like Alabama Gulf Coast better. JMO.

Yeah, I just want to try it out. I'm a regular at Florabama in July of most Summers.

I love GS/OB and mainly go there now but I LOOOOOVVEE Destin. We had a place at Seascape in Destin throughout my childhood in the 80s so that was my beach growing up. Destin has changed so much since then though. Still my favorite overall beach location but the traffic has gotten a bit out of hand there. It's bad enough in GS/OB and just downright awful in Destin.

P.S. Opal actually made landfall at Navarre Beach so Navarre/Ft Walton and Destin took the brunt of that storm.
