re: Serious question, how many Ole Miss fans actually thought you'd keep Kiffin 4+ years?

We really need one master thread for all Arkansas posters to post in about Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. It would really clean up the main board. No need for 15 threads per day.

I didn’t at all but I still wanted him as coach bc you take the best that you can get in this league even if it gets you just one or two good seasons, hell even one. I am happy with the results of the hire. You can’t buy the publicity the guy brings to your program and if he leaves then it’s back to work again. No rest in this league and you take what you can get.

When we hired Kiffin, I chose to not worry about too much about how long he stays. He's a great coach who has already done great things for our program, and he'll leave our program in a better condition than he found it. I of course want to keep him as long as possible and believe our University should do everything in its power to make him stick around, but if he leaves, he leaves. Only thing I can do is focus on the next game, show up, and be loud.
ETA: He's not going anywhere as of now. So, it's still plausible he stays for 4+ years.
Good perspective right here. I’ll add that while he still shows that immaturity of his from time to time, he’s reaching an age where a man is able to better understand perspective. I bet he regrets jumping around so much- certainly taking that USC job. Maybe he will be more motivated to dig in and try to make OM his home.

Honest question: How long does anyone stay at a stressful job where they make $6-10 million a year, in any profession? Coaches don’t have to be lifers anymore. They’re set for life & can afford to accept new challenges if they choose. Every coach I’ve ever seen seems to enjoy the first few years of putting their own stamp on a program. I look for more coaches to bounce around every 4-5 years. CFB is gonna be like the NFL with recycled coaches & a few new faces every year
Astute observation.
