So, as we were closing out the SEC Score Board last night, antibarner started a topic regarding his experiences with other message boards;

The death of an old board, but I think the Corndogs are better than Viles

It seems his question is if Bama beats LSU, will there be retribution against Bama fans/banning from the SEC Rant? Will they be "runt' oft" from this board if they win five in a row? This is what (apparently) had occured when he was (previously) a member of a University of Tennessee board (Opponets - Vol Quest).

I pointed out his premise was flawed for one reason - UT and Bama are rivals, LSU and Bama are not.

Not rivals bro. Just another game.

This is my understanding of how we both see this game. However, antibarner and Othello made it a point to disagree.

antibarner - I'll remind you of that should you lose. I won't have to say a word my point will prove itself.

Othello - "We've got a new rival. fricking Alabama!" - Les Miles 2007

Am I missing something here? Thought this matter was settled.

Relying on the Bama greybeards to set this straight.

All I know is that if we win and bump all the dumb threads made by LSU fans, we will get banned. If y'all win and bump dumb Alabama threads, there will be no punishment.

No more a rival than AU was when Bama was insignificant.

LSU only has 2 rivals and both have been shitty for the last couple of decades.

Nope. Between Auburn, Bama, and Tennessee, Bama has enough rivalries as it is.

Not rivals, but Bama always takes their bye week before LSU. Auburn has been up and down recently and Tenn is a steaming pile, so the LSU vs Bama game usually provides the winner a trip to ATL. It's become a very important game for both schools.

Considering its a top 5 game of the year every year since Miles and Saban have been here, I'd say yeah.

Why wouldn't the two most succesful programs in the toughest Division be rivals in some way or another?

It's more a competitive rivalry. Both teams recruit at the top and recruit to play against each other. But it's not a rivalry. If one team is down you can't play the 'throw out the records' argument.

No unless you want to be lump in with Tenn.- 9 in row
LSU- about to be 5 in a row, rather have rival that puts up a fight like an Ole Miss.

I don't look at is as a "rivalry" game but it is one of the games I look the most forward to.

The game is usually hard fought and played with class for the most part.

Agree with this comment. But it (seems) to go against this avatar...

Cannot disagree with the four losses in a row, but why the fixation on LSU? A non-rival?

Why not eight (then) in a row for UT?

Questions, questions...

In a way all secw teams are rivals. However, there are traditions that have been formed over many years. Bama vs UT is one of those traditional rivalries that started a long time ago when the conference was making a name for itself and college football was becoming a big deal. Bama and UT were two national reconized teams and were responsible for a lot of the prestige the SEC earned during those formation years.

When the SEC expanded in 92 and created divisions it created new rivals by default.

Nowadays it seems the best teams in divisions when the game decides the winner of the divisions becomes one od the most important games each year and the team's get labled rivals, especially when a team is at the top for more than a few years, like Bama is currently. Lsu was in the beginning of the 2000s. For the past 8 years Bama vs LSU has been a huge game in deciding the west, plus there's that whole coaching thing that has a little bit of a added pressure for each team.

Right or wrong the perception is Saban built Lsu into their current power and Lsu would have won a lot more if Saban wasn't at Bama stealing away lsu's glory days.

This game isn't much different than many of the recent games for Bama. This is the first time in since the 20011 season that Lsu is ranked ahead of Bama and it is Bama that is in the must win category. Lsu can lose this game and still win the west and make the CFPO.

This game will be a knockdown drag out, last man standing, heavy weight fight for the belt.

I hope both teams play great, no player is injured and may the best team win. Bama is my school and I believe will win the game. Bama has the defense capable of shutting Lsu down enough to win and is just good enough on offense to put up more points than they will give up. My prediction is Bama 27. LSu 16
