The question is whether the Tigers will be scared of or in awe of 'Bama when they play. Answer: No.

• We're the defending national champions, they aren't
• We're playing at home
• Everyone on the team and in the stadium wants to rip Nick Saban's heart out
• Last but not least ... we have a damn strong football team in case anyone's forgotten

Win or lose, the team will make Tiger fans proud. This isn't North Texas playing 'Bama. It's LSU.

You have to understand that they have been bad for so long that they are clinging to the possibility that they can go an entire season without reverting to the usual bama teams.

I tell you what horndog, why don't you walk up to Herman Johnson yourself and ask him if he's scared.

My question is why are people like Horndog on our boards. I can understand popping in for a line or two but it looks like this dude lives on here. Why would a bammer spend so much time on this board.

Oh that's just xiv and his ilk. He only barely fits into the category of LSU fans, if at all.

it seems that our 10 point win over state is bringing out some bitches around the tiger faithful.

That would be me (and some others). It's not so much a 10-point win over an outrageously terrible team as a recurring failure on the defensive side of the ball. Frankly, I'd feel better if the margin last night were due to turnovers or penalties or some obviously correctable breakdown. But the failure of our defense to contain even the most anemic offenses is becoming noticeable, and does not seem to be improving. That's a more fundamental problem than just a slew of mental errors in one game. And it's harder to solve.

quote:

I know what I say means nothing, but remember that LSU was fixing to really open it up against MSU until Lee just over throws Dickson on the crossing route and it gets picked, and then the next drive the FB fumbles

That explains not scoring more than we did, but doesn't explain 24 points by a Mississippi State offense that hadn't scored that many in three games combined against other FBS opponents. It also doesn't explain giving up 38 offensive points in two games against two offenses that managed a combined total of 3 offensive points when they played each other.

quote:

Bama is playing perfect ball right now, and really catching some breaks, like in the first drive, on the fumble, UGA had it, BUT hands to parkers facemask, gave them a first and goal.

And they found a way to shut down a good Georgia offense, at least until the game was well in hand.

There luck will run out as the season progresses

People said that about us last year, too, but if it continues consistently, it may not be luck. Alabama didn't look lucky against Georgia, they looked very, very good.

its gonna be one HELL of a game in BR.

Agreed, but we really need to fix our problems on defense.

i see alot to be positive about from last nights game and even more concerning our upcoming oponents.

No doubt. Our offense is looking much better than I thought it would at this point, and Jarrett Lee was a pleasant surprise following up his Auburn performance with a very solid night in his first start. The receivers looked amazing, Dickson made some great plays, and Charles Scott ran the ball tough like he always does. I was a little disappointed in the OL not opening more holes for the runners or protecting Lee a little better, but the offense overall was great.

Given that offense (or, really, quarterback) was our biggest concern coming into the season, it's VERY encouraging to see them performing so well.

The defense is the issue. We expected problems in the secondary and we have them. We worried about the coordinators and so far they've not shown much. It's way too early to predict how it'll go over the course of the season, but right now we're a long way from where we need to be defensively.

As for our opponents, Florida and Georgia looked bad yesterday, but will be tough as nails when we play them. Alabama looked great, but may not be as good as they looked when we play them.

The LSU-Bama game is probably going to be a day game, isn't it? I can't imagine CBS passing on it if things keep up the way they are.

How big a factor was Beckwith's absence in our defensive problems. Also didn't we have 2 or 3 defensive lineman get injured and were out most of the game last night? I think that was cautionary since we could win w/o them. Something tells me that played a big role in the numbers moostate put up.

even the bammers will admit that LSU has much better talent on the field, so you kinda make your own luck

Your post sounds like you might be one of the scared ones.

As to the LSU/Bama game, only 1 thing is certain: Bama will have significantly fewer penalties.
