If you want to contribute to this week's Football Power Rankings, submit your 1-14 ranking of the SEC teams here or email it to me (email is in my profile). We will randomly pick 2 rankings out of all the reasonable ones submitted. Voting closes Monday, and the winners will be announced in the Football Power Rankings thread on Tuesday.

Here are some suggestions that we give to the regular voters:
quote:

We aren't going to tie your hands with a "formula" but we encourage you to use some of the following: the past week's results, team momentum/trend, conference record, rankings (SOS, AP, Coaches, College Playoff Selection Committee Poll (whatever they decide it call it), etc), team stats, OOC record, overall record, eye-test. We trust that you're able to form your own combo of these elements without our guidance, but we would like you to emphasize what a team has most recently accomplished.

Here's Week 9's PR to use as a reference
1) Mississippi State
2) Alabama
3) Auburn
4) Georgia
5) Ole Miss
6) LSU
7) Missouri
8) Kentucky
9) Arkansas
10) Texas A&M
11) South Carolina
12) Tennessee
13) Florida
14) Vanderbilt

Get them in before the end of the night

I don't see how Arkansas can be that high in these rankings and Tennessee so low. At some point, Arkansas is going to have actually beat someone. Just like Tennessee, you can only have so many close losses before they become to be not as impressive. I'm not saying they aren't capable, but seems pretty odd to rank a team that's winless over 2+years in the top 8 in the SEC

I asked the same and got ridiculed that I didn't know how power rankings work.

I quit trying, because now all I'll hear is "LOL Tennessee 4-5 u suck go die"

I agree. Arky is playing better, but they have the same amount of SEC wins as Vandy.

ETA bert is fat.

I believe it a combination of factors. Most people see the West head-and-shoulders above the East...not saying that's right but that's the perception most have. Therefore Arky's road to where they are now was/is harder than an East's team with similar record. If you exclude the Auburn game, Arky has lost their other 4 SEC matchups by a combined 28 points. So while they aren't winning the games, they're looking good/competitive. This might not be the correct way to view Arky, but I think it's how some do.

While this is true, this PR doesn't take into account what happened last year.

A&M game was ridiculous and A&M has since fallen apart. I think Arkansas would beat everyone I ranked below them. The fact that they don't get to play any of those teams is hilarious and ridiculous.

Arkansas schedules are why Alabama claims SEC schedules are insanely hard.
