Wasn't it 30 last season?
Bumping it up to 40 seems reasonable as does making all competitors pick every game.

30 has worked well in the past. One of the most important skills in picking games is knowing when NOT to pick one. If you want to have a few folks hitting at close to 70% (which is good for all of us), leave it at 30. Increasing the number of required picks will probably lower the winning percentage of the top pickers and reduce the value of the insight that they provide. Folks are free to pick more, but let's don't make the folks who are really good at this pick more games than they otherwise would and bury their quality picks among picks that are simply required to meet some artificial minimum.

it was 30 last year? I'm down with 40, 50 may be too much.

this. 50 will make people pick games that they don't want to just to meet the minimum. I know I started late and just got to 30, so 40 seems pretty reasonable.

The season I won, I only picked 30 games.
Obviously, the less games you pick, the better chance you have of winning.
The champions' winning percentage has been right at 70% too, so bumping it up to 40 games should lower the successful percentage to 65% or so.
Any feedback yet, NGT?
