If they "accidentally" bumped into each other at the Burger King, ok I understand that. But he was at the school, on the way to the office. Big frickin deal.

It was during a no contact period, correct? I dont care to read it again.

The thing is, it is a rule and you have to follow it. Saban pushed this type of recruiting to the limit and they made a rule about. Everyone should know about it. They made it pretty popular in the media. As soon as he saw the recruit he should have said good to meet you have a nice day, plain and simple

btw this is off topic but not worth starting a new thread over. I saw on another site that the new SEC schedules are being finalized today and will offiically be released to the public tomorrow. Yay.

No, not at all. If it was a no contact period CTG wouldn't have been at the school in the first place. The penalty was not for making contact, it was having that few extra minutes of "extra contact".

Yeah it's easy for us to say that, and according to the asinine, bullshite book the NCAA uses that's what he SHOULD have done. But if you're a coach and you're there to get a guy to commit to your school, upon seeing him in the hall do you really wanna say "Whoa, hold on. Can't talk to you. Wait til we get to this office down the hall"? No, I'm sure he was nice and cordial and putting on his best recruiting face.

Actually, after reading your quote it was.

it was having that few extra minutes of "extra contact".

It was because instead of saying hi my name is ...., good to meet you have a nice day... etc..
He continued to talk.

Not trying to argue

BTW, thanks for the update on the schedule

so out of a thousand kids in that high school, your boy todd happens upon the only D1A recruit in the building?.... how many kids did he pass before he found the one he was looking for?

Fwiw when I played ball in high school we always knew when a recruiter would be coming, the kid was probably looking for the recruiter himself.

WG, we don't agree on much, but we agree on these two "violations".

The 5 year old brother thing is straight ludicrous. And as far as the recruit thing goes, he was on campus and they were going to talk in a few anyways right?

Is he supposed to blow off the recruit and then tell him how much he wants him to come to UGA 5-10 minutes later?

Our football team was nothing short of a family, from the coaches on down. Trust me, we knew when a recruiter was going to walk through the doors of the high school.

Who turns little shite like this into the NCAA anyway? Did Grantham go back to UGA-AD and give them detailed, minute by minute conversations he had on one HS on his recruiting trail.

Hell, I'm not sure I'd be able to remember every little detail like that.
