There is a bit of truth to this--indirectly. There was some fear that adding the SECCG could ruin SEC chances to get into a title game. It almost happened in the very first game (Bama/UF). I believe it DID happen to UT when LSU (led by Saban) beat them when I believe they were headed there.

Are we "worse" for having the game? Overall, no. No really by a mile. But it did make it harder to get to the title game.

Adding the Aggies might have just "burned" the SEC this year. This isn't a bad thing--clearly they are and will be competitive. All props and congrats due to them winning. But it just made the road even tougher.

This was probably a case of do or die--the inevitable. Power is consolidating in college football. And with the playoffs it may not matter so much. I think Bama/UGA has a very real shot of making a 4 team playoff this year if it existed.
