MSU has played its share and even USA is no pushover, just outside top-25 as is Southern Miss who we have a week from today. I think we hurt ourselves with some non top 25 teams mid-week games playing so many young guys trying to find out who is who but in the long run that might have been good. We know a lot more now.

That's true and it depends on which team you face. Some non conf oppenents will toss an ace as you said or at least one of their best pitchers to knock off an Sec type team while an Sec team juggles around new guys. Part of being in the most powerful conference in the nation.
