Who is it? Which SEC team will step up and surprise everyone by having an abnormal type year?

Will it be Bama, UGA, LSU or Aubbie dropping 4, 5 or even 6 or 7 games?

Will it be a Mississippi school, aTm or Arky winning the west?

For a minute it was Vandy looking like they wanted to replicate Northwestern in the B1G or Stanford from the Pac.

This year I think it will be the Kentucky Wildcats winning 8 or 9 games.

From your lips to God's ears.

Edit to add: I also think this is the case, but I may be looking through blue-tinted glasses.

does not count - would not be an anomaly for LSU

Would not really even be an anomaly for UGA, because it would not fall drastically outside of the bounds of "top line potential" based on rankings.

What I mean is, LSU and UGA have both been consistent top 10 schools and have been in the discussion for winning the SEC and going to the mythical national championship game. LSU has, of coarse, won and lost it.

Either school doing it, even this year with the QB questions, would be less of a surprise than if aTm, a MS school or Arky did it.

And much less of a surprise than a 9 win KY squad.

While I do think Kentucky makes it to a bowl game, I do not think they are even close to deep enough for 7+ wins

aTm is my pick. Talented all over the offense with some experience at QB. Some talent on D with one of the best DCs in the conference. They only play 3 games outside the state of Texas and one of those is at Vandy.

How would it not be an anomaly? The last time LSU went undefeated and won the MNC was in 1958.

Again, not an anomaly. has happened twice in the last 10 years and MS State has finished last in the West 4 times in the last 10 years.

Winning the West would be a bigger surprice for MS State OR for Ole Miss

LSU is top 10 in most preseason polls, have been top 10, have won the NC and been in the discussion.

A top 10 team winning it all would not be that big of a fricking surprise

Tennessee is my surprise team this year. Arkansas could be pretty damn good as well.

Mizzou wins 10+ games, loses to GA and challenges for the SEC title.

good call, that would be a huge fricking surprise since everyone knows that a yankee school placed in the wrong division can't compete in the mighty SEC

Kentucky is my pick. A 7-8 win season would be huge for them and if they knock off one of the top East teams in doing so...

Everyone expects the Vols and the Hogs to either be really good... or be average. Neither team would be a surprise nor would the Aggies.

USCe if they cobble together a 10 win season would be up there.

Granted, if Vanderbilt goes bonkers, wins the SEC, and then crushes everyone in the playoffs... well OK then. They would be my surprise team of the year.

That would not be abnormal, does not qualify.
