And A&M decided to set it that high because of the incredibly high demand... 20,000.

So even if the demand was 10,000 they wouldn't be able to sell out the $100 tickets? Of course they could.

WOW! Unless they are in the lower section this is a HUGE ripoff

The visiting school's seats in the A&M stadium are so high up that they require a boarding pass as well as a ticket.

When we played at Oklahoma State in the 2009 opener tickets for ALL georgia fans were $100. We were their "special" game that year, one game a year that OSU has that get wildly marked up

This is common practice out West.

Here in the land of hippie liberals, market prices are charged on all games where they can charge more.

SEC schools are far more equitable and usually charge the same ticket price for all games.

Out here in Pac 12 land, rent a win tickets and other less appealing games routinely are usually priced at half the price of the high demand games.

It's just one more amusing part of life around here. Like being able to buy medical marijuana and have a doctor assist you in killing yourself but getting tackled if you try to pump your own gas.

It is what it is.

Your lack of basic economics knowledge is staggering.

Where am I wrong? LSU is a big game for them, so they realize they can charge $100 a ticket and they will all be sold. If LSU requested 50,000 tickets for the game, would the price per ticket go up to $300?

well I'll be damned. It's full service like in the old days, you just drive up and an attendant comes out and does it for you?

Why would they get pissed if you do it yourself, is there a limit or something?

If they really wanted to, yes. They're actually still trying to keep it reasonable, but you can charge more with more demand.

You are understanding the demand part, but not the supply part, or the price elasticity of demand. We don't have 50,000 tickets to give LSU.

If you factor in the true cost, i.e., the opportunity cost Auburn might have the worst (this is based on when I was there). Per game prices are cheap but they sold home tickets to every single undergrad. So if you wanted a seat (not just a good seat) you had to get there a few hours early. Often the aisles were packed with students and getting concessions or using the restroom meant a 15 minute round trip.

In other words, supply is upward sloping to a point where it becomes perfectly inelastic because in the short run, supply is fixed at a certain number of seats.

Our prices for away games aren't terrible either.

$46 Kentucky
$50 Vandy
$60 UF
$75 LSU
$75 Clemson
