I hate nobody. What an individual does with his/her life is none of my businesses as long as it doesn't directly affect me or my family. But this guy is famous for no other reason but being gay.

He wasn't drafted because of his ability. I guarantee the NFL paid the Rams to draft him so they could save face. His inability wasn't the only reason he sucked either. He was fricked mentally as well.

A sports writer pointed that out before the draft.

He said, you can bet money that if Sam was not drafted by the late rounds, the commissioner would have a real quick 'come to Jesus' meeting/conference call with team owners and see to it that he was drafted.

It would have been too embarrassing for him to go undrafted after all the hype.

Savage is right. And Sam hedged his bet when he came out of the closet. He knew he wouldn't get drafted on his ability so he knew the league would make a team draft him in order to dodge the liberal media shite storm if he didn't.

Gay aunt, and maybe a second cousin ... we think, maybe. Not sure about the cousin - we banished her from the family the moment we suspected it so no one knows for sure. Last we heard she was homeless living on the streets in San Francisco.

Haha, that's such bullshite.

Lots of truisms ITT, but not the way it's being portrayed.

Had Sam never came out he would have been drafted in the 4th/5th rds. He has warts but they never would have been as scrutinized as they were had he kept it quiet. He has plus pass rushing skills and that would have been a value pick there for the SEC DPOY. No doubt. It's also true that he was only drafted because he came out. After he started to slide, I have no doubt a favor was called into the Rams. I don't think teams cared so much if he was gay, but they didn't want the circus.

He also should have made the Rams. He played well enough, better than two other young DL they kept, during the preseason to make that squad. He's good enough to play in the NFL, but he's not good enough to be gay and play in the NFL. He's a fringe roster talent. A 4th or 5th DE on a team. That guy can stick around the league for a few years, but not if you're gay. It's not worth it for teams. If he were a star level talent it wouldn't matter, but he's not.

He definitely made a mistake coming out if he wanted to play football and I think he did. At least at first. After he had so many people pulling him in different directions, perhaps not.

You're absolutely right if he has star talent then it wouldn't matter. The fact is he's not good enough to play in the NFL. He could be 4th or 5th DE? Do teams even keep 5 DE on the 54 man roster? His combine was atrocious. How did his pro day go?

The Rams kept 5 DE the year he was cut.

You're missing my point. He's not the first DE that hasn't looked good in shorts doing LB drills. Far from it of course. There are a bunch of those guys playing in the league now, and they weren't the DPOY in the SEC. As it was, his deficiencies were scrutinized heavily where had he just been Dam the football player they would have barely registered.

Fringe roster guys aren't allowed to be stories off the field. It's no different than someone with legal issues. He just happened to be the biggest story off the field...frick, maybe ever. He was good enough to play. He just wasn't good enough to be gay and play. Too many guys that are close ability wise that don't have Oprah wanting to do a training camp documentary on them.

If you think he's NFL career is as simple as "he can't play" then you are being incredibly naive. Sorry.

First SECCG with Langham's pick-6.
The Mannings.
Herschel Walker.
Bo Jackson.
Steve Spurrier.
Michael Sam.

One of these things is not like the others.

I could see that the microscope got bigger after he came out. I'll concede that. I didn't know the Rams kept 5 DE that season. Dallas should have traded for one of them lol.

What is ridiculous are the uber-sensitive individuals who see it this way
quote:

There are some major Homophobes around here. Some of yall have problems

when in reality its simply this
quote:

It's not about being a homophobe. It's tiresome. It's not that he's gay, It's LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME I'M GAY!

You can be gay, Ham. That doesn't affect me... I don't have anything against gay people and am all for two consenting adults marrying too.

But whats tiresome is the celebrity status attention that all these people are being given only because theyre gay. As if nowadays its so much more magnificent to be gay than to be hetero

They seriously need to cut the damn propaganda out already and just leave it alone. Like Im supposed to want to suck the guys dick and watch a TV show about him because he has the courage to be gay
