Maybe so. I haven't looked because I don't care. I suspect you haven't looked either and that if you did you'd see that you're wrong.

So where do you think Miss. should rank? And why? Just curious...

Those states have really been raking in the title lately.

No way Louisiana is that high

My main point is that it's silly to try to rank states this way at all. Things like obesity, income, and bachelors degrees are all useful for describing individuals, but they don't make much sense for describing a group of individuals unless they were grouped by those attributes specifically.
If the question is, "if we randomly select one individual from each state in the SEC, which state is most likely to be represented by someone whose life sucks?" then I think the answer is pretty clearly Mississippi.
If the question is, "ceteris paribus, which state in the SEC give some randomly selected individual the best chance at a good life?" then the answer becomes murkier. The only way to really know is to control for things like IQ, various personality traits, size of the town they're in, etc. Maybe you test the IQs of a sample of young children from each state and then check in on them 20 years later.
I suspect that looking at it that way would reveal that it doesn't matter a whole lot which state you're born in, and if it does, it's much more closely correlated to more local factors. (Say, kids in small towns turn out worse, but a larger portion of Arkansans live in small towns.)
For my money, the chance to go to school with more smart kids in a place like Atlanta or Austin would probably have helped me a lot less than the introspection and meditation I learned sitting in a boat waiting for a flounder to bite my line.

Serious question, have you ever been to the Delta (it is primarily in MS but also includes portions of Northern LA or SE Arky)? If you haven't then it would be an eye opening experience. It's like what most of the rural America was like back at the turn of the century but with government assistance. It is actually quite depressing and I haven't a clue how you would turn it around.

Fun fact....agriculture is the #1 Industry in the state of Georgia. There's Ft. Benning in Columbus. Savannah is an awesome place as well. I get Atlanta but outside of the UGA campus there is a lot to be desired regarding Clark County.

The Delta sucks. It is the ugliest, most depressing area I've ever seen. I've hated it from my first trip there 30 years ago. I hope I never have to go back. I truly feel sorry for people who have to live in that craphole.

Even for population growth SEC states are the worst nationally in all of these categories. Hate to be rude but it's true.
