Explain to me why more SEC teams don't play marquee OOC games?
In the past 10 years we have had Home and Homes with Kansas, Ohio State, Texas, Gonzaga, Memphis, Virginia, UConn, Xavier, Butler and Pitt.
Currently have current or future series with UNC, UCLA, Memphis, Georgia Tech and UVA.
When you have Kansas, Texas, Ohio State, Gonzaga, etc. coming in to your building it creates a lot of excitement.
Why are more SEC teams not scheduling home and homes with blue bloods or top 15 type programs?

I've wondered this also. Dayton is the only good OOC team we've had in Coleman the past two years

There isn't interest from top 15 type schools. Most SEC schools aren't from big recruiting grounds, don't have bball TV demand and have a high potential to be a negative on RPI
Same reason why Tennessee doesn't schedule home and home with shitty P5 schools like Oregon St. You're better than that and get better OOC matchups
I have no clue why both Xavier and UConn have done home and homes with Auburn

Well I know this year Howland purposely scheduled a weak OOC schedule because we are basically a freshman squad at State. I agreed with it as I thought that was the smart thing to do. I think we did gain some confidence in winning some games early on even if the competition was not very good.
Now next year, I hope we have a very tough OOC schedule as this team will be seasoned and ready for it.
As far as Saturday's game against USCe, who knows which State team will show up? We will see tomorrow night.

Howland historically is a cupcake scheduler. So I wouldn't expect some super tough OOC
Granted Pac12 usually has 2-3 top 25 schools so he was never hurting for marquee games

I think even a 2 for 1 is worth it for some of the less established SEC schools.
I know when Pearl was here he said he tried to get a 2 for 1 with both Duke and UNC early on but they weren't interested and then after he got it rolling you obviously don't want to offer 2 for 1 when you are a top 20 type team year in and year out and can get home and homes with some of the other teams I mentioned.
Barnes obviously has a lot of friendships and ties so he can get home and homes with the UNCs of the world even early in a rebuild.
At a place like Auburn do you feel like 2 for 1 would be worth it if it meant getting a Kansas or Michigan State in Auburn Arena?

In a heartbeat I'd imagine. Problem is that Kansas/MSU would have to see value, which they probably don't. As it stands today, We wouldn't guarantee a marquee TV draw consideration
The problem becomes that best case they beat a team who historically isn't great on an avg TV slot they get normally
Worst case is that they get added media exposure by losing to a team that most outside the South don't even know where they are

Right now the scheduling play by Auburn is Bruce's personality getting him big tournament invites (Maui '18)
Then we beg the second rate blue bloods for Home/Home like UConn/Xavier

I would love a close game, but Alabama does not have the ball handlers nor an efficient enough offense to give UK trouble. UK is going to want to run, get fast-break opportunities, and press. Also Alabama's perimeter defense is horrendous. Give a guy like Monk open shots and we're going to lose by 20+. Again, a close game here would be awesome, but I doubt it. Dazon shouldn't be a PG, and Jimmie Taylor shouldn't have a scholarship.

Every team in the SEC wants to schedule Texas. Only Georgia was lucky enough to get that rent-a-win on their schedule.

I'm going with the favorites, in all but two of the games.
Auburn is a better team than Ole Miss, and wins in Oxford.
Look for Georgia to upset Tennessee on the road. That Bulldog team is ready to shape up and show it's tourney material.

I'm no fan of Texas but A&M is something like 9/52 against Texas since 1990 for a solid Win% of ~18%
They are only rent a win for real basketball schools

Last 2 years haven't been great, but we've had some pretty good home games the last 10 years
UCLA
Georgetown
Texas (next year)
Clemson
Purdue
Texas Tech
Dayton
Wichita St
VCU
Xavier
Georgia Tech
Oregon (Bham)
Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Temple, NC State and Memphis a few years before that.

Winning 22+ against garbage OOC isn't getting screwed.
Our problem wasn't a bad OOC, our problem was losing to terrible Seton Hall and Iowa and, gulp, St. Peters. All in the same week.
And then the SEC West being an utter garbage pit and giving no shot to make up for it.

I just mean that Bama hasn't really been screwed by NCAA tournament selections. There really are only two semi legit shots you missed
2013- RPI 60+ & No top 50 RPI wins
2011- RPI 80 almost never gets you in
To offset any snubs, Bama made it in at large with a 17W team under Gottfried in 06. That was a strong SEC yr and you had good wins, but 17W is ridiculous

Yea, if I remember correctly we had the #1 SOS in America that year.
Gottfried was a turd but post-2001 snub (when our OOC was HBCUs and the worst Louisville team of all time) our OOC schedules were fantastic.

I guess my point is that if your wins come from SEC + OOC cupcakes you don't make it in
Y'all had scheduled tough opponents but didn't win any during snub years
