Historically, they seem to have been about $5 million ahead. Given that State fans are more excited than they have ever been and Ole Miss fans are about as down as they have ever been, the number he threw out seems about right to me.

If Mississippi had one major conference program it would probably be very good. Just doesn't seem like there's enough resources and people to go around for 2 SEC programs plus a solid non AQ program like Southern Miss

I would have to agree with this. Don't think it would ever be possible to make Ole Miss and MSU fans combine though. Too much animosity between us.

It seems like there's pretty good HS talent in Mississippi, and if they had that single unifying school for state pride similar to LSU and Louisiana then that program would be very good.

If Mississippi had one major university it would be exactly like LSU is to Louisiana. Back in the 90's Ole Miss and State were consistently good and going to bowls every year. I think we can be like that again but we've got to find two good coaches (like Tubberville and Sherril). State has Mullen and if Freeze works out then I think you will see the state of Mississippi produce consistent winners in the future.
Frick Southern Miss BTW. I hope they never win another game in any sport. I wish their football program would get the "death penalty." I hate USM more than any other university.

Southern Miss seems a lot like TCU. The pain in the arse that steals some good recruits from the major schools because they win in a much lesser conference.

The exact reason I can't stand them. The whole "We could play in the SEC. We would do better than Ole Miss and State in the SEC" bullshite really irritates me. They think just because they play 1 decent OOC game a year, get donkey stomped then win 7 games in C-USA that they could be good in the SEC.
Their fans are some of the most obnoxious around.

We'll shut them up in '14 and '15 enough to last...at least...a few years.
IF you take all the BS out of college football, I love those 2 schedules. Play them in game 1 and OM in game 12 every year. We'll open the "new" Davis-Wade stadium with them...and those should be 2 very intense games...

The only time recently they could have beat either of us was last year. Solely cause they had a decent defense and we both sucked arse on offense last year..

Now we all know how to unite Ole Miss and MSU fans. Mention USM. Haven't been on here long, but this is certainly the first time I think I have seen all OM and MSU fans agree.
