I am really excited to see this movie. They did a casting call and lots of my former students got parts as extras.

Cass as well. Bowden still comes to town in the summer to raise funds in honor of a coach who passed away from Woodlawn.

So did Bobby Bowden, but neither of those were there in the 70's.

One last plug for B Bowden. When he resigned (forced out), we went through all the old Tatler (school newspapers) to try and find a picture of him.

All the younguns on here that don't believe life existed before 2000 they have no idea the impact this game had. It was Banks vs Woodlawn who were both in the top 5 nationally. Jeff Rultledge and Rick Neal played for Banks and Nathan for Woodlawn. All were bound for Alabama and would be the main cogs in the 78 national title team that beat Penn State on the Goal line stand. At this time High school football was a mere sidebar. The game was held at Legion Field and 42,000 people showed up which at the time was a high school record and this is the game that brought high school football to the forefront in many states. The game was delayed for an hour so everyone could get in Legion. Traffic was backed up in all directions for miles. Awesome game with so many great players on the field and Shorty White coaching the Banks Jets. Legendary night in Alabama high school football history
