Coach O has to prove it. He says that he has improved or learned alot since Ole Miss. Let's see if he can back it up.

Not a better coach but certainly has better talent.

Is Bill Belichick a better coach now then when he was at Cleveland?

Is Pete Carroll a better coach now then when he was at New England?

No is the answer. Got it? Bill and Pete are actually head coaches, O isn't - by any stretch.

You gals are too sensitive to ask these questions.

Yes. Did decently as interim at both USC and at LSU. Yes, he had better talent at both places than at Ole Miss, but it wasn't as if the cupboard was bare at Ole Miss.

In addition, there are several example of coaches who have done better after screwing it up the first time (Gene Stallings for one). Bill Belicheck. Not saying Coach Yaw Yaw is equivalent to them, but it's possible for someone to learn from past mistakes. Plus he was hired as a HC by Ole Miss before he had even been a coordinator, so he was not ready for that.

Well, the usual idiots say no way. Some other posters say maybe and yes. So, maybe this thread wasn't a complete wash.

Now that Fournette is gone, if he gets a GREAT offensive co... He will have them to a 7 or 8 win team in no time..

You realize Guice will do the same thing LF7 did to you right? And Akers after that...

Here is one way to look at it:

If you were to go back to last July and asked yourself, self, who would I rather be my coach at LSU- O or The Hat? Who would you pick? I would have picked The Hat and it wouldn't have even been close.

Congratulations LSU, you have THE most incompetent AD in sports. He botched this head coach thing worse than I have seen in a long time. Where will you be in 4 years? Looking for a new head coach after 4 miserable years.

You go from one of the winningest SEC coaches in history to thinking you are getting Jimbo Dumbo and Hermie Dermie and end up with O.

Why aren't y'all calling for his head?

He's won half the games he won at Ole Miss in half of a season rather than 3. Better talent at LSU, of course, but it's still the fact of.

Fair point, but the Ole miss talent he had was pretty close to 1/2 of 1/3 of that which he has at LSU... so it may be a wash.

In all seriousness, if he hires a good staff, I think he can do very well. I'm sure he has learned a tremendous amount from his experiences and those of the other HCs he has worked with since Oxford. And, yes, observing what wrong looks like and avoiding it is often a better lesson than watching what right looks like and merely trying to emulate it.

I am significantly better at managing projects now than 10 years ago. My entire philosophy has changed. As a matter of fact I was over promoted early in my career and nearly screwed up everything. Maybe O should have never been hired at Ole Miss.

The answer is, yes absolutely. How much? Hell if I know, maybe he should have never been hired at LSU.

Problem with Kiffin is that he and O are friends. Kiffin with a friend for a boss will get in a lot of trouble.

I don't know, but try this analogy, sit back, and go hmmm: Bill Curry as Bama HC had them ranked number two in nation his third year before losing to natty champ Miami, and Mike Dubose had them ranked in top ten and won a SEC title.
