Ex Gata/Maryland/Cal(PA) QB Josh Portis is looking good in garbage time for Seattle.

He's got talent, he just has problems...

Speaking of qb's with problems, I am hearing Perrilloux has looked good in the Giants short camp.

Ryan Perrilloux, a first-year player from Jacksonville State, wowed the small crowd tonight when he lofted a picture-perfect pass to rookie Jerrel Jernigan – who beat cornerback Brian Witherspoon – for a 60-yard touchdown pass. It wasn’t the first quality throw Perrilloux has made in the early stages of camp and not the last quality throw he made in this practice. He threaded a pass to Todd Watkins just beyond the reach of Cary Harris in the 7 on 7 drill. I nthe red zone drill, Perrilloux fired into the end zone to find tight end Travis Beckum.

Perrilloux and Portis followed similar paths, it's kinda weird.

High profile QB out of HS, commits to an SEC team, has problems with the law, transfers out to a small school, goes undrafted, then ends up as a 3rd string QB in the NFL.

Only difference is Portis took a side trip to Maryland before going to Cal(PA)...

What was Portis' legal trouble? I've forgotten.

It was actually last year at Cal(PA). I originally thought it was at UF, but that was Hornsby in '08.

He got busted for cheating at Maryland though...

Isn't Hornsby the one that signed with Ole miss then got booted?

Didn't know he stole a credit card.

I still can't believe what Hornsby did. The kid had all kinds of talent but no brains. Sad really.

Portis is an interesting case.

He was a high priority recruit for Utah when Urban was there. Then when Urban left for UF he brought Portis along. He was the one to first do the "Tebow" role while Leak was the starter (not as good of course). Then once UF signed Tebow...well he moved on and the rest was history...

Still surprised he couldnt get on the field at Maryland before his troubles happened.

I don't know if he actually stole it or he bought it knowing it was stolen.

This actually pisses me off more than me being happy for a former tiger.. two years of this and we'd be looking for our 4th BCS title this year, not 3rd.
