So, I had nothing to do at work today and have been following this MLFB draft pretty closely. If you havent heard about it, its going to be a spring outdoor football league similar to the USFL, only billed less as an NFL competitor and more as an NFL development league. The draft was set up as a territorial draft, and since the cities where the teams will be based has not been announced, I thought it would be interesting to try and figure it out based on the schools that the teams drafted the most players. The league says they are focused on placing teams in cities with no NFL or MLB teams.

As of right now only the head coach's name identifies each team. Here are the teams that drafted SEC players:

Coach Dave Campo
Rd 1. Joe Adams ARKANSAS
Rd 3. Alonzo Highsmith ARKANSAS
Rd 9. Jerico Nelson ARKANSAS

This one is tough, he drafted players from schools in PA, MO, IL, AR and KS. I'm thinking OKC

Coach Ted Cottrell
Rd 2. Trey DePriest BAMA
Rd 6. Michael Thornton UGA
Rd 8. Harry Coleman LSU
Rd 11. Mario Fannin AUBURN

This team will more than likely be in Birmingham

Coach Robert Ford
Rd 5. Cameron Clear TAMU
Rd 9. Tony Hurd TAMU
Rd 11. Lionel Smith TAMU

San Antonio? They only drafted Texas players

Coach Buddy Geis
Rd 1. Emmanuel Stephens OLE MISS
Rd 2. Donte Rumph KENTUCKY
Rd 6. Christian Holmes MISS. STATE
Rd 7. Mike Douglas KENTUCKY
Rd 9. Charles Sawyer OLE MISS
Rd 10. Tyler Russell MISS. STATE
Rd 13. Bryon Bennett OLE MISS
Rd 15. Nate Willis KENTUCKY
Rd 19. Steven Borden KENTUCKY
Rd 20. Jameon Lewis MISS. STATE

Memphis. Has to be

Coach Galen Hall
1. Stephen Garcia USC
2. Darious Cummings FLORIDA
3. Damien Jacobs FLORIDA
4. Vic Hampton USC
6. Clay Burton FLORIDA
9. Jabari Gorman FLORIDA
11. Travian Robertson USC
12. Brandon Hicks FLORIDA
13. Jon Halepio FLORIDA

Orlando?

Definitely looks like team Campo could be in the NWA area, which actually wouldn't be a bad choice. It's a rapidly growing area that loves football, and is close to some large cities in Oklahoma and Missouri.

Yeah I've seen elsewhere that there is going to be a team in Little Rock if the league actually gets off the ground. That part is doubtful though.

Where the hell would they play?

Birmingham would easily turn out 40-50k for spring pro ball if there was a viable stadium. They'd be lucky to get 12k at Legion Field.
