I feel like LSU dips into Texas and pulls one of the top recruits out of that state. We have some CB's and Safeties from Texas. Along with some offensive guys.

Things are still changing though, you need to remember that Tx recruiting is still ramping up for the SEC, the realignment effects are just starting to show up.
Mizzou has gotten plenty of good Lone Star defenders, we just haven't gotten many of the elite 4-5 star HS kids, so they've taken a year or two to develop. No, we haven't really had a great single defensive team, but some of that may be coaching and scheme though.
If you take the last 6 or 7 years of Tx kids on D for us, you would have, among others:
Micheal Sam
Sean Weatherspoon
Zavier Gooden
Dom Hamilton
Will Ebner
Kip Edwards
Jacquies Smith
Kevin Rutland
Ziggy Hood
all those kids now play in the NFL except for Ebner who probably would if hadn't been consistently hampered w/ a broken foot his last 2 years.
On top of that, our entire backfield last season was Texans. James Franklin at QB. Our three RBs that each had over 600 yards rushing and combined for 2,400 rushing yards and 29 TDs were from Texas. Two of our probable starting WRs for next season are Texans. Three of our probable starters in the secondary are from Texas.

The 2005 tu defense was pretty salty.

Lsu gets a solid number of recruits from east Texas almost every year.

One thing wrong with Texas players is that Bielema can't sign any of them.

Your gonna need a bigger boat if your gonna use a hook that big.

I didn't mean it in a negative manner.
The High School football I have seen in Texas provided very high speed, uptempo, high powered offenses. Teams were going with no-huddle 5 wide outs, throwing the "air raid" offense. Teams were also using their own variations of an Auburn and Oregon style offense. It is very similar to Pac-12 football. These high schools were doing these tremendous things on offense, putting up lots of points, and were good at it.
If you look around to Michigan high school football, you'll be watching a variation of the "old Michigan" or Wisconsin style football. Teams lineup with two tight ends and play power run football. The flexbone and wishbone offenses are still popular among Michigan schools. Some teams won't even attempt more than 8 passes a game.
In Texas high school football (offensively), you almost feel like you're watching a Division II team.

I will agree with that completely. The end result is that offense is worshiped more than defense, so a larger percentage of the best athletes usually end up on that side of the ball for a shot at that glory.
It is all great for the SEC long-term I believe, because SEC West teams (and USC) can eventually sprinkle in finely tuned Texas offensive talent with their local defensive talent for al altogether more competitive league.

I can only think of 2 players offhand that we've gotten from Texas in the last 10 years. One was a servicable DT and one was an excellent QB.

I agree I think it helps create balance.

If nothing else the addition of Texas recruiting will improve SEC QB play.

We have been focusing more on Florida than Texas under Bielema, which is different than what our past coaches have done. But with Partridge leaving and us getting TCU's DB coach we've been focusing on it more now.
It does seem like the players we have gotten from Florida are a lot more athletic though. But Texas will still be a key state for us that we need to continue to recruit well. They have given us some good players

That makes sense to me.
