Coach of the year is based on the job they did, what coach further exceeded the expectations of Buzz

Kennedy had the majority of this team plus Mekowulu and Starks last year and ended with 13 total regular season wins.

Not a damn one.

Do you realize that there's another 1st year coach in the league that isn't going to have to wait until year 2 to make the tournament? And that he doesn't have a player taller than 6'8" on his roster?
Eric Musselman should have a shot at the CoY title.

Again...when you consider preseason expectations against current conference standings, Buzz leads the pack by a mile.
Also, in regards to the progression of a team over the course of the season, nobody in the nation has improved more than A&M.

Eric Musselman is a 1st year coach that was winning games from day 1, man.
Arkansas is basically running a 7 man rotation with no center and, correct me if I'm wrong, still has a better overall record than Aggie. He also lost his #2 scorer for 5 games in the meat of his schedule.
Y'all are fricking crazy.
He's won 3 more games than Buzz has. Again, with a 7 man rotation, losing his #2 scorer, and not having a player taller than 6'8" on his roster.

Actually, he's won three fewer than Buzz. Arkansas is 5-9 in the SEC, and A&M is 8-6.

Can you not read? I clearly said overall record.
The award isn't given out for "Coach of Half the Year."
Look, I understand y'all are pumped about your new coach, but he hasn't done as well as Musselman. That's just a fact. And if you factor the limitations Musselman has with his roster, it isn't close.

The award is SEC coach of the year.

There’s too much ball left to be played to make the call yet, though I’d be surprised if the coach of a team team that doesn’t make the Tournament is awarded COY. That’ll likely leave Buzz outta the running.
For the sake of reference, here’s how the SEC and national media predicted the teams to finish the season:
And here are the current standings:
Regardless of which coach is named COY, Arkansas and A&M both made great hires.
I’d have zero problem with Eric Musselman being recognized by the conference accordingly.

Yes, but they don't factor only conference records. Surely you're not this dense.

What in the blue frick are talking about? Isn’t Arkie like 5-8 in conference and projected to have to play Wednesday of the SEC tourney?

Both coaches are outperforming expectations. And what's more is we get to see them go head to head in the final game of the season.

What do you mean what the frick am I talking about? One team is still in the hunt for the tournament and one isn't.
Arkansas can still make the dance, and I would argue is likely to make the dance. A&M is out.

Arkansas was picked to finish 11th in the SEC and they are currently in 11th.
A&M was picked to finish 12th and they are currently in 5th.

Don’t y’all need to essentially win out? How is that “likely” to make the dance. Sorry, a sub .500 in conference SEC team is not making the dance.
Posted on 2/22/20 at 11:58 pm to Hugh McElroy
They're in a 3 way tie for 5th. Arkansas is in a 2 way tie for 10th. If you look at it in the opposite way you just did, Arkansas is 10th and Aggie is 7th.
Don't be dishonest.
Arkansas still has a better overall record and has a much better shot at making the NCAAt. Aggie has no shot at the tournament unless the win the SECt.
This isn't a real debate. Arkansas has had a better overall season. They don't factor half the year only.
Sorry man, but that's just the way it is. Musselman is more likely to win CoY. Better luck next year.

17 wins with 5 games remaining. If they won out they're at 22 and safely in.
I think they can get in winning 3 of the last 5 and 1 in the SECt. Giving them a total of 21.
