This, the graphic is wrong for him on that stat. He does have 10 TFL which is incredible for just 30 tackles

May be one of the most over hyped players after this past off-season.

Number of tackles for DL's aren't that important. Go look at the NFL. What is important is for them to dominate the gaps and push the pocket. Terrance Cody almost always took 2 DL's to block him leaving our LB's open space to nail the RB or go through on a blitz to hit the QB. Jesse is in the same vein.

Vlachos didn't move Brockers at ALL in two games last year. He got drafted as a RS Soph #15 overall because he DOMINATED all year and held his ground against two blockers, routinely.

You're correct in that their pass-rushing numbers and total tackles aren't important as by design DT's in our defense-and the NG's in yours-are being asked to play gap-control instead of pocket pressure.

The better defenses in the SEC aren't set up for DL to make a ton of tackles. 9 out of the to p10 tacklers in the SEC are LBs.

Too bad Big Shell was suspended for the Syracuse game or he would have had 2more games to pad those stats.

Why the frick does Downs ever get on the field over Anthony Johnson? I didn't notice any stats for Downs, btw. Freak has more sacks than Logan, also. You can say stats don't matter for interior Linemen, but tell me which play would you rather the DT not have a sack than have one.

DL stats aren't so important for defenses in a 3-4.

That said... Big John Jenkins has done real well finishing plays for Georgia. He'll definitely be a high draft pick.

FYI

Kelcy Quarles: 36 tackles, 7.0 TFL, 2.5 sacks
Byron Jerideau: 39 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks
Chaz Sutton: 23 tackles, 7.0 TFL, 5.0 sacks*
Aldrick Fordham: 21 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks*

* both Sutton and Fordham are DEs, but have played most snaps this season in DC Ward's "Rabbit" package, which is a front formation of 4 DEs when opponents are in 3rd and long or obvious passing situations. Sutton and Fordham take the interior positions with Clowney and Taylor taking the outside positions....

I was wondering how they didn't have Quarles or jerideau on the list. Quarles missed two games and still put up huge stats.

Logan and Johnson played on rotation all year. Johnson moreso than Logan.

I'm not sure the criteria for the list.

Georgias 3-4 DE Garrison Smith hasn't even started all season.
But he has 52 tackles, 24 solo, 2 tackles for az loss, 1 sack, and 5 QB hurries.

Not bad for a biggun who is supposed to just eat blockers and take up space.

John Jenkins can be taken off.
He's played DE and NT this season (after Abry Jones got injured).
It was the same time that Garrison was getting the nod as a starter at DE.

I guess it's semantics.
I personally wouldn't think of a 3-4 DE as anything other than an interior defensive lineman.
They're covered up on the outside by pass rushing OLBs.
