From the outside looking in I totally understand that opinion and you very may well be right. I would argue that if Butch had lost "faith" of the players, you would not have seen such an motivated, united team in the Bowl game. I know Nebraska sucks and such, but so did SC and the team was much more prepared, energetic and united in the bowl then mid season.

I do think the coaches mismanaged this team, I think the hype, expectations, great start, schedule, injuries and poor coaching decisions all rolled into one caused a 2 win shortfall on the W/L record this fall.

But that does not mean that is what will always happen. Some of those "Big problem" personalities left the team this year and we will have a chance to fly under the radar while still having boatloads of talent that people like yourself don't know about.

These are the players leaving the program off the team this year. Everything else returns.

Dobbs - Already discussed
Kamara - Already discussed
Malone - Already discussed
Wiesman - OL who shuffled around all season and was a solid player
Croom - 2nd string TE

Barnett - Once in a generation player will be sorely missed
Vereen - A nice DE who's motor made up for not being the most "talented" player
Lewis - 2nd/3rd string DE
JRM - Didn't play all year
Sutton - Didn't play most of the year and when he did return he was still gimpy and not 100%

So basically 2 players on D and 3 on O.

TN will still be a very good roster of players in 2017. We will see if the coaches can put it together to be a good team or not.

Florida will be down. No O. Losing a ton of D.

This "losing a ton of D"...

How many years in a row have people been saying this?

9 since going back to 2007, and 2007 UF was LOADED with future NFL players, just the fact they were all freshman/sophomores had a lot to do with the growing pains.

UF will drop off slightly, but this "significant dropoff" and "losing everybody" is highly overexaggerated.

No O.

UF returns everybody on offense, except for Appleby and Fulwood

If Franks or Trask is good, UF could have the best offense in the East next year.

I'll wait for the downvotes.

TN returns all of their offense beside Dobbs, Kamara and Malone. So 8 of 11 starters. I would also argue that Kelly is the best pure RB for this offense that we had all year. Throw in Ty Chandler who looks like another perfect fit for the offense and the running game looks great. Especially returning 9 of our top 10 OL, adding Trey Smith to that rotation, ect.

Dobbs will be tough to replace in ways, but he will be easily replaced in ways. He obviously could make something out of nothing at times, but he also turned something into nothing a lot with horrible inconsistent throwing. It will be a give and take, but I think certain parts of the QB position could be better.

WR returns our entire line up which was very young besides Malone, who did take the top off defenses so we will have to replace that. But we have tons of talent at WR.

TN lost its "big names" but will have its most experienced roster under Butch and has boatloads of talent left over. The idea TN missed their only chance this season was always a misnomer and I have been preaching that since the summer.

You've been listening to Butch Jones too much.

So because I understand our roster make up means I listen to Butch Jones?

Haha, ok, I do think people will be surprised when TN still looks and fields a very talented team next season.

But I guess we will just have to wait and see

Tennessee looking like and fielding a very talented team won't be a surprise to anyone.

It wasn't this year either.

I can see 6 wins and a bowl game easily, and 8 wins possible. If they can ever get over the Gator mental block, who knows. Game is in Lexington where closer games usually happen.

I think UT's roster is fine. Plenty talented enough. I just think they lost the majority of their actual production that will be hard to replace.

And they have a tough schedule in conference as well, which won't help.

Vern and Barnett combined for like 30 TFL. That's a lot to replace. They are only returning about 6 sacks in total in production from last year.

And although Dobbs had some brain farts last year, the guy was dynamic, and I don't think UT will be at the same place at QB next year.

They will be decent again though. 8 wins for sure.

I actually agree with most of your points, but you can't really believe UF will have the best offense next year.

VOLS have 0 chance of winning anything of significance with Butch Jones. Huge waste of time to get your hopes up.

You are already getting yourself excited for a season that is 7 months away when he walked in to Vanderbilt Stadium a month and a half ago and lost to an atrocious Vandy team with a Sugar Bowl bid on the line.

Arkansas - Flat - Just don't see how they rise up in the West much past 4th in the division.

Third is probably our peak next year. We finished 5th this past year so Fourth would be an improvement.

I do believe that. Depends on the QB.

Most depth at OL, RB, TE, and WR that we've had in years.

If Trask or Franks proves to be good, look out.

You could use the same argument for Georgia and they already had a better offense. I guess we will find out. Could be good but I don't see it being the best in the East.

West
1. Alabama - Flat - Agreed. I do think any improvemnt in their offense will be offset by the step back of their defense. That said, they'll still be the favorites and preseason top two or three.

2. LSU - Significantly Improved - Ed O seems to have really connected and I think they'll be a legit threat to dethrone Alabama.

3. Auburn - Same - they'll win some they probably shouldn't, but also drop one or two they should win.

7. A&M - Down - They'll start like the world is on fire and they'll shoot up the rankings...then they'll actually start playing someone and they'll end up in the 5-7to 7-5 range.

5. Arkansas - Flat - Agreed. They've got some talent, but just can't seem to put it together.

4. Ole Miss - Improve - I think they're improved, but I don't see anything better than a 4th place finish in the West.

6. Miss St - Improve - Pretty much same as Ole Miss thoughts. They'll be better, but I still think they slot in the 4-6 range, with 4th being the dream season scenario.

East

2. Georgia - Improve - Agreed, they'll be better. I'd slot them in at #2 right now.

6. Tennessee - Worse - Even considering the injuries, they lose a lot, and let's face it, a lot will depend on their QB play. I think they really struggle next season and Jones may be looking for another job. I'm also seriously not trolling TN fans...I've got family down there and those family members don't seem to be real optimistic about next fall.

1. Florida - Improve - They'll be the 1 seed preseason. I think they're the most solid East team in all phases.

4. South Carolina - Same - I was actually pretty surprised with their play last fall, so when I say the same, that means they'll continue on that path. I see a good year for them being 3rd in the East, bad year 5th, but they should go bowling.

3. Missouri - Improve - Agreed. Mizzou returns everyone except for the starting TE on offense, but they have some capable players who did play last season waiting in the wings. The o-line should be solid to improved, the WR's should be improved, especially if they can get rid of the drops, and the RB's could challenge as the deepest stable in the East. Lock - when he's on and not turning the ball over with poor choices, he may throw the best ball in the SEC. His big thing will be to not force the issue like he's been prone to doing. Defense - well they lose a fair amount, including Charles Harris. Normally that's a bad thing, but considering how bad the defense was, I'm not sure that will be case. I think the defense is improved enough to get Mizzou back into a bowl game. Low side, 6-6, really high side, 9-3, I'd put an ambitious over/under at 7.5 .

7. Vandy - Flat - Agreed. They did seem to improve, but I think the rest of the East, minus TN, is improving at a higher rate, which probably earns them a 6th or 7th place finish.

5. Kentucky - Same - I actually like them to improve, but a lot depends on the other schools and how much they'll improve.

You saying we get better or worse?

I think we will improve a lot next year. All playmakers on offense return and Bentley looks special. Lose a lot of insignificant seniors on D but think we'll be improved. Our DL couldn't have been worse than this year

What? You said Arkansas is going to go 5-7 next year. How would we all be the same?

UGA arguably had a worse OL and WRs than UF this year.

Better QB and better RBs than Florida, they return most of their players like Florida.
