Alabama won the SEC in 1964, but Arkansas won the national title.

The opposite of 2012. UF won the SEC but Bama won the National championship. Florida won the SEC in 2007 and Bama in 2009, but Georgia won the National Title both of those years (during their fivr year streak).

I seem to recall one team falling backassward into the NC game without winning the SEC. Don't remember who though, they got lucky.
